I mean...it's significantly more than the $0.00 we were getting from this bill like two weeks ago

And that $600 could cover like two months of groceries or utilities I guess

Actually it'd be $2400 for a family of four so that's a few months of groceries or utilities

Still should've been way higher though

I think you'd have to be pretty out of touch to pretend like an additional $1200 isn't significant for the median working family. I think people are bending over backwards to be pissy towards Pelosi, she even states within that same statement that she wished the payments were bigger.

$600, as free money for doing nothing and going towards people who don't even need it, is a lot.

It is not enough to actually live off of and replace income, which is why we have unemployment insurance.

There has been a nationwide eviction moratorium, yeah. But those people would have either been earning an income or collecting unemployment insurance during that time.

This new deal also includes $25 billion in emergency rental assistance and extends the moratorium. But people are too busy complaining about how $600 only buys them one PS5 to notice I guess.

It's significant because it's literally free money the government is just giving you even though you don't need it. They owe you $0.

If the government was actually expecting unemployed people to live off of $600, there would be a problem. But that's not happening.

this forces the parties to work together to both get what they wanted. Why not put them together? If one bill just had business stuff and then it passed what if the republicans shot down relief for citizens? This ensures each party gets what their voters want. Why would they separate it?

$300 a week is supplemental unemployment benefits (plus extending two other unemployment programs through March) in addition to state unemployment benefits, which is to help people recover lost income during the pandemic.

$600 is a one-time stimulus payment regardless of if you lost your income or not.

Yawn. Look dude, stop pretending that UI pays enough for people to survive on. I drew it back in 2001 and then again back in April for a few weeks. In the 19 years since I last drew it, the max you could draw has gone up 10 dollars. People can't live on that shit. The worst part of it is, Missouri isn't even the worse fucking state for unemployment. You had the extra 600 for a bit, and now you'll have the extra 300 for a bit, but unless you live the barest subsistence existence, or live in a place with an incredibly low cost of living, people can't live on this shit. So your "hurr durr this is free money for existing" is bullshit. This is money to help people pay their bills. A ton of whom will be homeless when the rent or eviction moratoriums end.
