right. only have centurylink or spectrum. only 2 options for home internet.
i think spectrum did a 5$ across the board internet charge used to be 60$ if it keeps data caps from happening it's fine.

i'm under the limit but my roommate uses up the data.

The vast majority of Americans only have access to one cable or internet provider. And no ones dealing with the stress or costs of moving house just to save a couple bucks on the internet bill.

And when the people decide to circumvent the crappy company they start lobbying politicians and throwing lawsuits at the places that know they can do better than said companies.

I mean it's bad enough that even some Republican politicians in certain rural areas **** talk the ISP companies.

It sucks that the ISP and infrastructure providers have in a lot of places successfully lobbied to make it literally illegal for local cities to run their own infrastructure.

Most areas only have one available option. I live in what would be considered a mid sized city with a decent population. There are only two options here and neither one is very good.

Comcast is one of the scummiest companies in the country. But the US is absolutely enormous and it would be impossible for, say, every telecom to lay cables across the entire country. It's just prohibitively expensive once you get past the suburbs, and most of the country is, well, open country. So the telecoms colluded to divide up the regions that they would serve, e.g., I don't have comcast in my area, I only have spectrum and FIOS.

The thing is ISPs have been given government money in the past to expand their infrastructure and they just dont and keep the money

Kids in virtual school
Tv streaming
Game downloads

Once I got word about the cap, I started downloading most of my collection to reduce streaming on TV. Thats why November and now December is pretty high.

Once this is actually set to go, (after 2 month grace period so likely around March), I'll be cutting my bill in half.

I didnt mind paying the 105 a month before, but I'll likely be paying less than 50 once all said and done.

Jokes on commy cast.

That sucks. Companies like Comcast, mediacom, etc have a monopoly as an ISP over huge areas. Your only other options might be a DSL or satellite ISP... And if you have never tried either of those, Hah, its basically dial-up without the weird dinging phone dial tone thing.

But there are other pure fiber to the home ISPs that are growing pretty fast who offer cheaper faster capless internet. Yea, they might not be in your market yet, but shit, honestly... I can see cell phone providers making your phone's hotspot perform like a current top dollar gaming router with a high speed low ping connection within the next decade. Fuck ISPs after that. Then we'll finally get one over on them, until Comcast buys out Verizon anyways.

I used to have their cable service. Even their premium package offers very, very little HD content. It's like going back in time 25 years with the number of stations they give customers. Maybe worse.

Where I live I have no choice but to use their internet service. I'm going to be upset if I have to pay for this bullshit.
