I think being even worse would have helped it. Theres so many mediocre/boring conversations.

It really feels like actors half assing their lines. Boring is worse than bad, especially for a comedy.

Its really not bad at all. And I say this as someone who considers the original Ghostbusters one of his all time favorite movies.

I don't really give a shit about the original, so I'm not going to react like some religious zealot who's had his faith profaned by the notion of a remake with female leads. But while I wouldn't say it's terrible, I would say that it's ... average.

It just wasn't funny, while trying desperately to be funny. Jokes in the original landed without feeling forced, and in the original they didn't feel the need to talk constantly through all the jokes with ad-libbing to beat you over the head with "the funny".

The jokes in the original are far more deadpan and don't feel forced. 2016 is just blah blah blah blah blaaaaaahhhh all the time.

Paul Feig shoulders a lot of the blame for this in my opinion. He was too much of a fanboy and not enough of a director. His "direction" was basically "let's improv for 45 minutes and see what we get!"

It's unfortunate, because I personally feel it could have been good. You have four SNL ladies. There lots of potential for humor there. Leslie Jones came across very abrasive in the trailer, but interestingly enough she's the only one who ever takes the ghosts seriously as a threat to be feared at any point, during the mannequin scene. She did a great job with it instead of eating Pringles or making queef jokes.

I highly recommend watching this for an in depth comparison of the two films and why the latter didn't work. It also tweaks a few scenes to show how it could have been improved.

If you like modern comedies it's... fine I guess? But if you have more wrinkles in your brain than on your balls, it's borderline unwatchable.

I feel like those were the worst trailers for a movie that I've ever seen.
