The 2010s were about erasing the stigma of homosexuality and the gay rights movement. The Supreme Court even legalized it completely, and yet there was a vocal internet community still mocking them. Like if you watched this children's show back in the 2010s, you were gay, even though that was slowly becoming something you couldn't make fun of anymore. It can't work both ways. If you're going to be progressive in one way, why would you be alt-right in another?

There was this weird, archaic attitude of why would men watch a show meant for little girls? that persisted, but I dont remember a lot of people deriding bronies for being gay.

...just, a tad insufferable about their fandom. Like treating a cartoon as a personality trait. <_<

No one beyond numbskulls accused them of being gay given the fact that gay men do not gave a reputation for watching TV shows made for little girls. Instead, people ridiculed Bronies for the fact that many of them looked at porn of the ponies and that many of them looked like this:

I never saw "Bronies are gay" discourse, though I don't doubt it existed. I saw "grown men are creating so much cartoon horse porn that it's not safe for the young female demographic that the show is aimed at to Google their favorite show" discourse.
