People are mostly stuck in the country they're born in, whether they want to leave or not. It's not that people agree to the rules, it's that they're forced to play along. If I could move to another country without: being married to a citizen; having a business reason; being wealthy enough to move; and more barricades; I'd absolutely move.

Move to a country where you'd almost certainly owe taxes.

Though I guess there is solace to be had in that you chose those taxes?

If they could choose any country in the world to live in, I can guarantee practically zero of them would pick a country that didn't have public goods and services that taxes allow for. Yet republicans can just yell "socialism" at any tax funded amenity and millions of idiots will be against it.

Those fuckers should go live in one of their eutopias of starvation, little access to education, dirt roads, high infant mortality rates, little plumbing, difficulty trading, sweatshops, contagious diseases due to lack of vaccinations, etc. The right wing is a fucking joke in this country.

Taxes are a reasonable expectation, in exchange for public services and amenities (roads, parks, schools, etc.) and protection.

That said, excessive taxation isn't okay. I generally disapprove of tax increases that fund experimental programs or niche vanity projects.

Yeah, let's form an organization to take in all the money and make sure it gets spent on the things we need.

But how can we make sure people are paying in for what they use? Maybe we need some sort of required tithing built in.
