I hope they get this thing under control and we would have had a better shot at containing it had a certain someone not wasted time downplaying the seriousness of the pandemic but oh well.

Yeah, Biden was right. Issuing that travel ban was racist. Instead we should lock people away unless they're essential slaves to the wealthy.

Instead we should listen to people that believe false information like this.

We won't get it under control. People do not think it's a serious issue right now.

It's weird how it's still a problem even after the travel ban

I'm expecting a lockdown after the holidays. They won't do it during the holidays because that would be political suicide, but they'll use increasing cases from holiday get togethers as justification for it after

1.2% of Douglas County in Nebraska has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 2 weeks. 5.27% of the county has tested positive since the pandemic began.

Since infections usually last 2 weeks, that means that 1 out of every 82 people in the county have an active infection. 1 out of every 19 are or have been sick.

There have been 254 deaths in the county, which is 1 out of every 2249. The mortality rate is 0.84%, or 1 out of every 118 people. The state doesn't provide county-level hospitalization data, but across the entire state 3.7% of patients have required hospitalization, or 1 out of every 27.

These numbers only count people who've been tested, actual infections are probably much higher.

(The county seat of Douglas County is Omaha, population 571,327)

Even if/when there is a vaccine it won't go away completely

If anything the vaccine will be the equivalent of the regular flu vaccine which means it'll be a gamble

Best case scenario from the vaccine will be deaths/hospitalizations will drop significantly but infections will still be around just like the regular flu

Plus you have to factor in how many people will actually get the vaccine in the first place
