I wouldn't see a penny from student loan forgiveness as all $4000 I borrowed to finish up my last year in college has been paid off for over 8 years now. Whereas I really could use the $1200 now.

Oh damn. I didn't read it. I fucked everyone over >_>. Id definitely pick the 50k for everyone with loans.

If student loan debt is such a disastrous crisis, the first step should be stop issuing new loans.

Is it retroactive to the shit I've already paid down?

you think $1200 one time would help more than $100-300+ per month for the rest of the loan?

You're making the false assumption that they have student debt.

You know who does have student debt? Some of the largest income earners

I guess it depends on if the majority of people with student loans are out of work families living near the poverty line. I'd say probably no.

But those poor lawyers, doctors, and MBA grads!

They're struggling while the low earners are feasting on their stimulus!

A lot of essential works have crippling school debt. Especially nurses on the frontlines.

A lot don't. It costs around 20k to become a registered nurse. I would assume nurses can make anywhere from 40-50k depending where they live. That's hardly crippling debt

Probably making around 60-70k somewhere like nyc. But yeah, I wouldn't live in a metropolitan city as nurse personally

20k seems low. But I'm not gonna argue this. So, alright. I still pick that. I think it:ll go further for some

I wrote a check to pay off the last ~$4000 I owed on my student loans a few months ago so I'll take the stimulus check plz

Edit: I might have misunderstood, was this asking about me personally? Or if I'd rather they give out checks to everyone or forgive $50k for everyone?

If the latter then yeah free up everyone's debts. Gives them all more money they can spend on other shit.

Stimulus.

Stimulus helps everyone who needs money, loan forgiveness only helps people who took out college loans.

The student debt would actually be a better choice for the country, so I wouldn't be upset at all if we got that instead.

I'm just going off what nerdwallet says

Registered nurses finish school with an average debt of $19,928 or $23,711, depending on their degree.

You could easily pay off 20k in a few years, even if you're on the lower end of nursing wages, if you make it a priority.
