They always try to counter evidence with anecdotes.

It's why Fox when talking about food stamps always brought on that one guy.

Rarely does one hear any working scientist say that science is "settled." Science is never settled. It is, by definition, an ever-evolving body of human knowledge, and climate science is exactly like all the other sciences in that way. What "liberals" are often guilty of, though, is the appeal to authority fallacy. I am a firm believer in the scientific method, not scientific authority figures.

Science deals in probabilities, not certainties. When the probability of something approaches 100%, then we can regard the science, colloquially, as "settled". Or would you like to debate that the world is flat, OhJahhh?

Well, the earth has been directly observed. There's no debate on something you can see with your own two eyes

Well, we have signals that are outputting from a high location, that we can compare the time delay between them, to determine their locations.
The stars do also rotate around the earth, so, anything sufficiently high would also have the same delay to them.

Climate change, like evolution, is to the point where real scientists aren't debating whether or not it exists. Take it from me, a real working scientist!

I'm confused as to the difference between appealing to the scientific method and appealing to scientific authority. It's not like we can personally test all hypotheses ourselves, so at some point we are all appealing to some scientific authority.

I love that the argument is about people accepting anecdotes in lieu of evidence then you turn around and use a pretty heavily alt-news site to support your argument.

Fauci made the correct call based upon the assumptions we had at the time. Namely, that we had not yet any evidence of asymptomatic spreading, and a flurry of demand would leave health professionals without supply.

Making a call based on the current knowledge base is really all we can ask of professionals.

Exactly. Knowledge is not something that is static. It is constantly evolving which is why we can sometimes have scientific authorities say one thing, and then the opposite once new information is discovered.

Ad hominem. Address the content, not the source. Regardless, The Conversation is factual reporting that is pretty centrist, albeit with a slight left-lean (sort of like someone else we know!).

Funny that this is a perfect example of science actually working. Things change as we learn more about them, this is like 7th grade scientific method stuff.
