They tend to dry out on the outside but stay relatively juicy on the inside, so its almost like getting a steak medium rare but blackend.

i saw gordon ramsay's daughter cook burgers like that in the oven. she also put a block of cheese in the center of them.

they looked all right so i might try it one day.

Oh dude, my wife hated burgers until I made my signature burgers for her. Now she has an appreciation for burger she never had before.

I do it all the time. The only caveat is they shrink a great deal in diameter so you have to flatten out your burger so that it looks like a frisbee first. Then when you cook it in the oven it'll shrink to normal burger size / thickness.

I use a casserole tray to cook them so they stew in their own grease and don't dry out. Need about 29 minutes for a well done burger.

I cook mine on the barbecue but putting cheese in the middle is something I do all the time because it makes the burger so juicy. I also add ketchup and mustard (and a bunch of spices) into the beef before I form it and cook it. I dont even like ketchup or mustard on a burger but when its mixed into the beef its amazing.
