My brother and his wife took me out tonight. Had dinner, and went to an escape room. It's to celebrate my birthday(was Monday).

We failed pretty badly, but I still had a good time. It was our first time trying, so we tried the easiest one.

The guy running it said we actually got pretty close, but we still had like 4 puzzles to solve and I don't think we could've gotten there even with extra time like he said.

Best birthday ever. :)
Also, they got me a hamster. lol

Haha, no, zombies ate us. So he booted our remains back out the door. Guess I reanimated, because here I am.

Happy Belated Birthday!!! And glad you had a good time. Ive always wanted to try an escape room (especially after all those games). But I would need a few friends to go with me. The problem is my friends usually arent interested in things like that. Haha.

What does the hamster look like?

My suggestion for a name is Sonic.

Think of the fun you'll have explaining that you realize a hamster isn't a hedgehog!:)

Happy Belated Birthday! I tried an escape room last year and failed too. Instead of zombies, a murderous couple came back before we could escape their house and killed us. I thought my Zero Escape knowledge would lead us to victory but it's a lot different doing puzzles in person haha

I tried an escape room a few years ago, but I accidentally picked one of "medium" difficulty, and we didn't even get 50% done.

I did another one early this year and picked a "beginner" room. We still barely finished within the time limit.

Happy birthday!

I did an escape room during a bachelor party with my future brother in law. Was pretty fun.

Was a casino heist and it was an "expert level". We ended up watching a YouTube video on escape room tips the night before which was surprisingly helpful. We ended up finishing the escape room and we were the second fastest team to finish the room of all time!

---
I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was, and now what I'm with isn't it. And what's "it" seems weird and scary to me.

Thanks guys. He's pretty hyper, been on his excercise wheel non stop. Also, my brother told me "he bit the hell out of my finger, and he bit her(his wife) too. But you can totally play with him." If you put your finger in the wires of the cage, he sort of smacks it. So he's not too friendly, hopefully handfeeding some tasty veggies can change that.

The trickiest part was that there were 2 doors, one exit, and one that said it contained zombies. There was someone in that room that would occasionally try to get in. So we figured opening that door would be an instant loss, but we got stuck and had a key that unlocked that one. The zombies had wandered off out a back exit though, so it was clear and had the 2 clues we needed in there. Took us a while to decide to open it. lol

So were the zombies live actors? If so that's pretty cool!

Yeah, but they didn't actually attack us at the end. They just tried getting in for a bit to scare us away from the door. They were setting up for Halloween and said that once they're done they'll be scarier. He showed us the harder rooms, they looked cool. One starts you off in the dark and you have to fix the power, and there were animatronic werewolves. The hardest room was like a Saw trap room.

Sounds so dope. There's a haunted house in the city I live in North Texas. Went to one in San Antonio, but read pretty drunk at the time so my wife was freaking out but I was pretty nonplussed haha.

@KogaSteelfang

As I have owned several hamsters, I will let you know how you can avoid getting bit.

Hams dont like it when you reach in their territory and they feel cornered.
Simply use a cup or something to scoop them up, then drop him off in your hand and they shouldn't ever bite you.

hamsters are so fucking cute

Also this. I've had several in the past. Most have been Syrian but I also had a Chinese hamster once. He used to escape the cage often by slipping through the bars. He however lived for 5 years. Suttie for a grey hamster would suit the most. With that said my Chinese hamster was grey and I called him Scampi.

I did an escape room once with a group. You were supposed to solve puzzles to get a combo for a padlock. I figured out the combo before we finished the puzzles because it was only a four combo of four options and unlocked it. They said we lost because we didn't finish the puzzles.

That's dumb. Figuring it out yourself should count as solving it.

Some family members did an escape room where they were told any sort of pushing/pulling needed only one finger strength. There was a puzzle they were sure involved pushing something but woulda involved more than one finger strength and they did not want to risk breaking it. Turns out they were correct and for whatever reason that puzzle was designed to require way more than just one finger strength to push.

My Scouts recently did a virtual escape room where the host would share stuff on the screen and the participate would need to tell the host what to do and the host in turn would describe what is happening or what is being shown. In areas where social distancing is still enforced, I admit that is a creative way to keep the experience going.
