Yeah Britain is about 87% white. The reason you aren't seeing much in the way of racial animus is simply because the non-white population is so small.

I think there's possibly more anti-foreigner prejudice around. You might be the right colour, but that's outweighed by you being the wrong nationality. I'd say you're more likely to hear complaints about "the Poles" and "the Romanians" than about "the blacks".

Times change, and targets change. Out-groups are like milestones that mark the road of social history. Depending on the year when you take the snapshot, the complaints might be about "the Jews", "the Irish", "the Chinese", "the West Indians", "the Asians". In the era of Brexit, it tends to be "the Poles, etc".

If it's of any comfort, in my own experience -- 18 years living in south London, journeying up and down the Northern Line (part of London's subway network) every day for work, or for a night out, for years -- I witnessed things gradually get better, not worse. While I grant you that UR's experience is more recent than mine, and it's possible that the pendulum has swung back the other way in Brexit Britain, I feel he's likely to be overstating things.

Not yet. People tend to lump me in with recent Syrian refugees, mainly due to the way I look I guess, but that goes away once I open my mouth.

A disturbing large amount of people also seem to assume I'm of Turkish descent until I correct them, too.

Yeah. Germans as a people don't really seem to get that benevolent racism is still racism

UR is not a good faith poster. He has no interest in actually having a genuine position on any topic whatsoever. You could be adding up how many bananas are in your fruit bowl and he'll pull out some cartesian philosophy to argue how you can't trust your eyes. Really big brain stuff...

The least racist country in the western world is Canada as they still kiss @$$ to anyone. Racism still exist there but it's publically frowned upon so it's socially safer place for different races and religions to coexist.

Pretty fucking appalling UK. I would have quite happily thought our racism problem wasn't nearly as bad as the US's racism problem, but maybe it's just because we don't have any many black people?
