They were already told they wouldn't be allowed for awhile from what I recall as this is what happened.

Culturally, those brits who go to Spain are often like the Aussies who go to Bali, or I guess the Americans that go to Thailand. Definitely a real demographic but not our proudest.

What BLM is doing is socially pressuring people to conform. Think about how you're persuaded to the other side of an argument, you see points, consider your own, and then make decisions on which one is more optimal or agreeable. BLM doesn't do this. It's either you're with them or you're racist. So what's happening is that people are pushed to silence for fear of if they criticize the movement they'll get labeled a racist and be socially shunned. This doesn't help anyone, it only strengthens the animosity between the sides.

We've been at this since 2013, while we've had our first Black President of US of A serving. Look what has happened since, clearly it's not working. If you really want to help us black people, you have to acknowledge and address all criticism. This is basic marketing 101. At the end of the day, everyone has a limit of how much sympathy they can give, you have to give a compelling reason as to why they should care about you.

Eventually. But while the Tories are in power, I don't see them relenting anytime soon unless the Scots get serious with protests and strikes. And even then they'll do their best to ignore it or postpone any considerations.

I see no reason to complain about it, but it does seem weird to go with the cop violence angle in a country where the breakdown of overall killings by police needs to be divided into decades. It's not like there aren't other areas of racism to tackle.

Sort of.

It's not like Lockdown anymore where I was literally stuck. People can come and go out of the country near enough unrestricted now (That might be wrong before someone yells at me but you can go the US at least) but for some complicated reasons it's easier for work right now for me to stay here. On paper I'm here until December 29th and I'll find out later, probably next month where I am going next year. Most likely is either back to the US, back to Germany or stay in the UK. I don't see anywhere else being too likely especially during Covid.

No they've rented me an apartment. Cost of a hotel for months on end would be comical. Only downside was it was unfurnished and all the furniture shops are closed because of Covid so getting stuff was a nightmare.

I simply said that Britain isn't some outlier in the world and they are all still struggling with this. Calling Britain unique just shows you're sheltered as fuck, or have an agenda (to troll) We have a massive issue with racism and homophobia still, but "the west" in general does and the rise of nationalism and far right politics is growing all over. It is a problem we need to address everywhere, and while we may have passed laws protecting various groups, and go on our marches, it doesn't change that these things still exist and are very ingrained in our justice systems.

We might not have our Police gunning down black people whenever they can, but they are still unfairly treated by the police and justice system in general. Many people are still openly racist/homophobic/transphobic and will turn down dealing with people who are any of those, and more. It is a massive issue, but just because they aren't being killed, doesn't mean they aren't oppressed in other ways.

Blaming others isn't a unique thing to Britain, it happens everywhere and is something politicians use to great effect. Just look at Trump in America to see how widespread it is there too, or look to Germany, Sweden and so on where "The Immigrants/refugees" are blamed and said to be the source of all the problems.

At least, it's not miles above other countries racism problems as you'll find the exact same things happening elsewhere too.
