Get used to draugr dungeons, though. They have levelled undead types that include mages and they inhabit many passages in the cave/crypt/etc. or suddenly appear from sarcophagi. Stealth archery is pretty fun when it comes to taking out those nuisances, though. If you have that perk that does 15x stealth damage, though, you might be able to one-shot some.

IIRC that perk only affects daggers.

you can get x3 on bows and x6 on onehanded

When it comes to choice of race in Skyrim, Orcs are considered the best for melee because their Berserk skill is a unique bonus that cannot be matched: deal double damage and take half damage.

Bretons are the 'defensive' spell caster option, since it's easy to max out Magic Resistance on them and their Dragonskin power gives them a 50% chance to absorb spells in combat against enemy mages. High Elves are the 'offensive' spell caster option, as they get +50 magicka and a quickened magicka regen power in Highborn.

Imperial might not be anything special, but it's worth noting that their Voice of Emperor power is akin to a Master level Calm spell that only works on people. It works on people up to level 99 though, which means you can count on hand the number of NPCs that can resist it in the vanilla game. It's not considered a crime either; unlike the Nord War Cry which is an assault that can even make followers leave your service and attack you.

With alchemy, you can taste ingredients to learn one effect of that ingredient, plus it raises your alchemy skill.

Alchemy isn't as OP as enchanting, but it can help quite a bit too, and it's easy.

Yeh, you can slap on lightning or soul trap on the bow + sneak + black star gem for insta wins.. archery battles with NPC's are always fun

My favorite strategy is to focus on Bows and Crossbows, with swords or daggers as a close range option. I dont use much magic aside from healing magic

Basically, I use daggers for backstab and I probably use the Bow/Crossbow 90% of the time. Sneak attack critical hits can clear an entire tower/dungeon without then even knowing youre there.
