We've been going for 2 years, just hit 120,000 downloads. We've interviewed over 100 people, which has been an incredible networking opportunity.

I DMed the other host on Facebook to let him know I'm not interested in doing the show anymore because it doesn't make me happy anymore and that I'm not growing as a performer or learning new things. Obviously the DM was longer and more professional sounding.

The truth is that I feel like more of a punching bag than a respected co-host. On the episode we recorded a couple days ago, I told a joke which was responded with by a mocking "ha. ha. ha.". Not how I want to be treated. In that same episode, I argued a certain word is a philosophical term, which is what I was taught while studying philosophy in college. When the other host couldn't find this word on google, he said "Bull ****, it is not a word" after rudely berating me, instead of politely disagreeing. So, yes. I feel like more of a punching bag for his amusement and to make himself look good in juxtaposition, than an actual co-creator of a show. He also considers it "his show" and that I only co-host his project, so yeah, I'm out.

"Purdue" or however it's spelled. Perdue? Purdew?

It's the name of a famous college, which is all that comes up on google, aside from a french word meaning something different from what I was taught.

From what I was taught, it was a term Jean Paul Sartre used a lot, which means "To exist and nothing more".

I do remember seeing it in writing so I know it's a real word, unless I'm somehow horribly mistaken, but even so, that doesn't give the other host the right to disrespect me in front of like 1,000 people who are going to listen to the ep. It's my dignity on the line.

I don't want to say the genre, but he does 100% of the editing. That's part of the problem - he can be mean to me and edit it out, or edit out entire segments of stories I tell, jokes I make, anything, which he does.

I want to bring this up and be like "here is the word I was thinking of", but I know the response is going to be him mocking me for confusing Perdue and Perdure. He's going to say, "One is ApPaReNtlY a philosophical word, and the other is a college. Pretty different HUH??", leaving me to defend myself, so I probably won't. Can you tell I'm salty? Lol

Thank you! Yes, I have too many projects if anything! hahah I'm having to cut back on the number of projects I'm engaged in. I appreciate your kind words a lot.

I'm currently hosting another podcast as well, so yes- for the time being.
I'm not sure how much longer I want to do that one either, though, since I'm trying to de-clutter my life and I have to really think hard about what I want right now.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty common too. When I brought it up with the other host, it was just as a random word I used in a pre-written bit. He singled out that word to make fun of me, saying "You've used that word before, but it's not real", because he knew it would get on my nerves. I said that I was firm on this and I knew it was a real word. That's when he said, "Bull ****. It's not a real word". Made me sad. I don't want to work with someone who's going to make me sad.

Thank you! At first it was fun. It was a new type of project and I hadn't been performing for a while and was looking for something new to do. At the beginning I was regarded as a respected creator and important part of creating the show, but as time went on, I felt like I was being taken advantage of as the talent of the show, being the host with the performer background, and yet I was ridiculed for a lot of the things I would say (which I think are funny).

Purdue is the name of a college, which you probably have heard of. The philosophical term Perdure wouold be used like this: "Today I am just going to perdure, and nothing more". That's how I use the term anyway =))

In terms of editing stuff out, it would usually be specific jokes that I make that he doesn't think are funny, or entire segments where I ask the guests about their wedding for instance, if he doesn't think it's interesting enough. In terms of misrepresenting arguments, I don't remember that ever happening.

What I started doing lately whenever I wanted to make sure something didn't get edited out, is I would bring it up repeatedly throughout a period on the show, and ask the guests questions about it so it would be impossible to edit it out.

I didn't want there to be a discussion of the word, like at all. I just used it in a sentence, which is when my co-host said that it isn't a word. HE is the one who made a discussion out of it. Besides, this is the least of my concerns - out of everything that happened, this word issue is nothing.

I'm currently involved with 1 other podcast, not sure how long I'll do it for tho. I just ended a different podcast too, which was podcast #3 for me. I'm curious about learning to create video content now that I know how to be an audio engineer.

Very little money, like $30-40 a month. We had been doing it for 2 years, so I made several hundred total.
Every podcast is different; the people you work with, what work needs to get done, the production cycle, how professional, how laid back. I will say that we were fairly successful pretty early on. We were the #6 Podcast on iTunes for our category at one point, and have been in the top 300 podcasts on iTunes (Apple Podcasts) for quite some time. Given that there are 800,000 podcasts apparently, I guess that puts us in the top .0004% or whatever.

If you do want to start a podcast, know what you're doing. Do practice episodes that never get released. This will make your show better starting out. Have a marketing plan. Have goals. Have strategies. We can chat more if you want, just DM me

Yes it does. You were talking out of your ass and not actually knowing for sure. And, as I saw later in this thread, you were actually wrong, because you were thinking of a different word. You massive snowflake. I bet he's glad to have such a big, whiny baby off his show, especially when that baby is a bullshitter who can't stand to be called out.
