JE19426 08/13/20 9:40:12 AM #2:	I haven't play this particular game, so I won't comment on it. Having said that Total War: Warhammer 1&2 are probably the best in the series for combat. If you own both on Steam you can get access to all the factions from both in 2. Total War: Three Kingdoms has much better diplomacy. <cite>JE19426 posted [p:943328332] in A Total Wa... I've played almost all of them and have no problem doing well in the campaigns. the paradox games (crusader kings, hearts of iron, even stellaris, etc) are like a hundred times more complex lol the warhammer series are my favorite total war games by far. They're apparently kind of dumping Troy and have made some weird design decisions(like having cyclopses that are shirtless dudes wearing elephant skulls to battle, because that makes so much more sense than giants with one eye). I'd say it'd be a good look at what the series used to be then go ahead play something like Rome 2 or Shogun 2 --- The name is wackyteen for a reason. If the historical aspect is a major part of the appeal to you, then obviously you should probably not go with the Warhammer games. Warhammer's main strength is in its variety. One campaign will be totally different from another, as opposed to other Total War games where factions will usually have similar units and mechanics. Shogun 2 is the best one to start with I believe, since it really bridges the gap between old Total War games and new. The new ones are very good, especially Warhammer 2, but even that is missing a lot that I liked about the older games. And of course games like Medieval 2 and Rome 1 were fantastic, but they might come off as really dated for the average player. Plus, Shogun 2 is relatively simple to grasp. I gave it 2 minutes before I shut it down. I also had a very old unreal project that the launcher recognized, but it told me it was no longer compatible with the current launcher.
