It's basically disconnecting yourself from any easy Dopamine fixes for a day to reset your dope receptors.

This includes:
No Recreational drugs
No Masturbation
No screen time
No social media
No junk foods
No gambling
No Video Games
Putting yourself into discomfort or neutral state

I think I am going to put myself into this state one day a month.

That's beyond discomfort for me. With nothing to distract me I'm super aware of my chronic pain and everything going on around me (like every tiny sound is so loud) which spikes my anxiety.

So long story short, y'all can do what you want but I'd rather die thanks. I haven't had enough books to cover lack of video games in years. (Shitty step dad threw away a ton of my stuff and moving has wiped out what stock I got back up.)

At that point I'd basically eventually stress pass out and sleep the rest of the day due to being bombarded by pain and axniety.

I lived in a developing country where I did without most of this for 9 months, so I've definitely done a bit of "dopamine fasting" but it's not something I feel the need to practice regularly. I generally try to start and end my day with some meditation and try to maintain a generally healthy lifestyle, so while I limit pretty much all of these things, I rarely deprive myself for a full day.

That's called abuse, you abuse yourself mentally so you value something more than it's worth.

So basically don't do anything you enjoy or is rewarding. Yeah, no. May as well sleep all day. Oh wait. Can't do that either!

And what do you get out of that, a day of wondering whether you're feeling better than usual? I seriously doubt there is any significant benefit to doing that.

Meditating has a wide range of benefits, both physical and mental.

Still not 100% happiness. Well maybe the uncontacted tribal people are 100% happy.

Happiness is a subjective sociological construct that itself makes pure happiness impossible. The pursuit of happiness itself causes happiness to elude, partly because no one can actually agree on what "happiness" actually is.

For most of human history, the average person wouldn't have been able to articulate the concept.
