Briefly quit video games to focus on other things when I realized now is the worst time for that.

It's 110 degrees outside where I live. So I basically spend all day inside hiding from the heat. Plus everywhere is locked down.

So, without video games there's a void. Granted I should probably be spending that time learning Spanish, or an instrument, I still want a video game to fall back on when I'm not working on anything legit.

Right now I'm looking at Ori and the Will of the Wisp (Blind Forest was so good.) but it's full price and I just bought Blind Forest for $5, so I'm leery of going full price.

On the other hand, looking at more expensive Nintendo games like Super Mario Maker 2 and Zelda Link's Awakening.

I guess I could also dive into my backlogged Steam library. I never even played either Dishonored game which I bought for stupid cheap.

I liked the game, probably in part because the angry reviews made me lower my expectations and simultaneously realize all the people who had a problem with the game had bizarre insecurity issues and generally didn't seem very smart.

Or got a Platinum trophy in the first game and absolutely hate how aimless the sequel is in comparison

Do y'all really think it's that simple

Probably. I don't know why you think getting a platinum in one game gives you the credibility for me to doubt my assertion of you.

I mean if you think I suddenly hated the second game because of some "insecurity issues" when I clearly liked the first enough to get the Platinum trophy for it then I suppose hasty generalizations answer everything nowadays huh

Not really. The second had objectively better and more polished gameplay. If you can't acknowledge the merits of the game and just harp on the contentions you had with the story, I don't feel like you gave it a fair chance.

But I'm not interested in debating with you. That is not what this topic is about. If for your own reasons my description doesnt apply to you then you probably shouldn't be getting that offended by it.

If you liked Ori, you might like Rayman Legends. It's available on all current systems, and it's pretty cheap when it goes on sale.

It has a ton of content, including most of the levels from the previous game. It makes Origins totally obsolete.

Depending on how much they are, I also recommend getting the first Mega Man X Legacy Collection. I only got into Mega Man X earlier this year, and with no word of a lie, that game still holds up alongside more modern video games. 2 and 3 are pretty good too, and if you end up petering out around X4 like I did, you still get three solid platformers.

Yeah, I've got Megaman X collection. I was a big Mega Man-head growing up and I grew up in the NES era. Personally, X4 was one of my favorite ones. I loved how Zero made it almost like an MM/Ninja Gaiden hybrid. I also thought his anime sequences were pretty cool. I did kind of lose interest by then though.

I also just bought the Contra collection on Switch, it should be down to like $5 USD if it's on sale in America. I got it for $7.50 AUD, down from $30.

And how did they do that exactly? Just about everyone praising the game isn't doing so for anything new they attempted lol

Also crawling breaks the game from what I've heard. Like the AI actually can't process it too well lol

Did Assassin's Creed 3 having a lackluster ending and shaky narrative premise in the first place stop people from retroactively villifying it compared to other games in the series? Don't answer that question, cause it did. TLOU was always a game driven by its narrative and setpieces, otherwise at the higher difficulties it's just a shitty stealth game. And as somebody who also beat the first game on Grounded difficulty, good luck to finding anyone doing the same here NOT attempting it out of spite.

Probably not, but that train of thought you have is the quickest way to start believing your own hype. "The complainers are all incels! Of course they didn't like this game!"

the game offers multiple ways to play, with each of them being really fun, IMO.

As much as I enjoyed TLoU2, I don't want to replay it even with New Game + just because of the length of the intro. I wish it had a scenario/select.

Hold on, does it? Now that I think back, Uncharted did.

The Last of Us 2 played fine, but I'm not really that big on the big, linear setpiece games Naughty Dog has been doing since the PS3. I mostly enjoyed it because I was playing it alongside a friend via his copy of the game, and we had different styles of play that complemented different sections of the game which made it fun to trade the controller off.

All of these galaxy brain "I platinumed the first game, here's a laundry list of bad points from a forum post accumulating the most negative aspects of the game" takes are stupid. Crouching/going prone is fine. The AI is about as buggy as any AAA game release - there's some jittery movement and occasionally some weird teleportation stuff, mostly in regards to swapping places around for cutscenes sometimes, and it gets the job done the rest of the time with minimal or no incident. It's a minor point at best, and I don't know why you're fronting over it.

Like imo, it's a solid 7/10 game - no higher, no lower. People slurping the game's nuts with perfect 10 scores is dumb - same deal as with Metal Gear Solid 5, I really like that game but it's not a 10/10 - but this aggressive dressing down of people who just sort of played the game, acknowledge it's existence as a decent enough piece of media and moved on reeks of small dick energy and tribalism. Dude wants game recs, not a condescending talking down to about how the second game is a stupid game for morons. If you're going to be a limp-dicked pussy about a game you don't like, recommend something better.

Piss off buddy, nobody told him to call everyone who disliked the game insecure and stupid, he did that all on his own and obviously some people (including me, who your entire fucking post is directed towards) felt differently. That's not the same as "sort of played the game, acknowledge it's existence as a decent enough piece of media and moved on", those people aren't dying on a hill for the game like that, how dishonest can you get lol

I have my own recs but I guarantee they'd be picked apart at this point, why wouldn't they be. "Durr he said Nier Automata! Of course he would like that weeb game (with an actually good revenge bad subplot)!"

encounters are dramatically less scripted feeling than the first game, combat is more brutal and melee feels better, the zombie parts are much better thought out and designed, and the exploration parts are a great addition to the game (probably my favorite aspect).
