The gameplay is pretty different. Sticker Star had the issue where fighting random battles was pointless and robbed you of items needed for bosses. This doesn't have that.

I thought that this did have a similar issue, in that there's no incentive to fight random battles.

Not much of this info is really new. I remember it being mentioned before that Nintendo essentially stopped allowing Intelligent Systems to do Mario OCs. Also, we all know about Miyamoto's general disdain for developed Mario plot. Also the notion of "not repeating" has come up for interviews for SPM & Sticker Star. Nintendo has had a growing obsession for casuals, since the Wii. Most of these things are unlikely to change, so long as Miyamoto still has influence.

I haven't paid too much attention to Origami King, but I know that battling is no longer a DETRIMENT like it was previously. You dont get experience which sucks ass. You get coins and you buy stronger stuff/collectables with them I think

Maybe I dont understand but they do allow OC just not OC versions of established Mario universe species?

They don't allow OCs that modify anything pre existing.

Nintendo: we wont make the game like TTYD because were more interested in creating new experiences than rehashing old ones

also Nintendo: no new characters
Lol this, we want to innovate, but at the same time no new stories and characters, dumbasses.

Series selling millions die all the time. F-Zero (last game 16 years ago), Nintendogs (last game eleven years ago), Golden Sun (last game ten years ago), Kid Icarus (last game eight years ago). Tthe list goes on and on and on. In the timespan of most of the last games in all these series, there has been literally three dog-shit Paper Mario games. Sales mean nothing and you're an idiot defending one of the worst Nintendo series of all time (IMO) right now.

Uh, Golden Sun did not sell millions. The first game barely exceeded a million in both the US and Japan. The latter two didn't

The only actual franchise you listed that sold significantly well was Nintendogs

It's weird that the Nintendo series doesn't allow OCs anymore.

The character of Toad was created because a pallet swap of Doki Doki Panic had a fourth spot and they figured the nameless Mushroom Retainers from the first game would make a nice addition.

Luigi came about because Mario Bros. allowed for two-player compatibility and a pallet swap allowed for a twin brother.

Bowser was going to be an ox before Takashi Tezuka suggested that he be a turtle like his henchmen.

The Koopa Kids were patterned after programmers and went unnamed until Dayv Brooks was given license to name them.

While the concept of Mario having a mount originated with Shigeru Miyamoto, it was Shigefumi Hino who created the character of Yoshi.

Mario himself only exists because Nintendo couldn't secure the rights to Popeye the Sailor and they needed OC stand-ins for Popeye, Olive Oyl, and Bluto/Brutus. Donkey Kong replacing Brutus.

To close up shop and say no more seems very, very un-Nintendo-like.

Myamoto needs to retire already, he's obviously a legend in the industry but that same industry has passed him by

people get way too hung up on the no XP thing in Sticker Star/Color Splash. having an experience system would not have saved those games'. there would still be no strategy or decision-making, hell Color Splash doesn't even explicitly tell the player how much damage their attacks do or how much health the enemy has. if the game had been more about some kind of deck building mechanic, much like the Mega Man Battle Network games, it would have been much better. the primary thing experience affects is incentive, not how fun or engaging an RPG battle system is.

Origami King is p good
