No, but I don't get why you would do that considering that is just throwing your vote away. Lets say one candidate provides 0% of what you want out of a president and the other provides 35%, wouldn't you rather get some of what you want than nothing? If you think Trump is so bad that he is hurting the country irreparably, why vote for anyone other than Biden?

Generally no, because I believe we need to break apart from the 2 party system we have in the US. I even voted 3rd party in 2012.

That said, given the current shit show in the US I believe we need to vote for the person who will bring us back to some semblance of normalcy and after that we can worry about the 2 party system again.

I definitely agree that we do as well, but we need to focus on changing things to ranked choice voting before that can happen, and the only way to see that happen is by supporting Democrats.

Little bit? Third party candidates are usually jokes. I didn't judge anyone voting for Gary Johnson in 2016 tho, even if he was also a bit of a joke.

I voted for Gary Johnson in the last two elections. In South Dakota in 2012 and in MInnesota in 2016. Neither state is exactly a swing state so I didn't really understand the wasted vote comments tbh.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

Also this. There is fundamentally no difference between voting for a third party candidate and voting for Donald Trump in California or Joe Biden in Alabama.

Plenty of Republicans feel the same way lmao. Lost count of how many times I heard anyone who voted third party was supporting Hillary in 2016.

Never could figure out how voting third party helped one candidate but not the other...

It's a bit of an Enlightened Centrist thing to do.

Multiple parties ARE a good thing, IF the voting system has rules that make it a smart move.

We do not have such a voting system.

Enlightened Centrists will scream PARTISAN! TRIBALISSSSST! etc. But they're ignorant.

Voting system change first, then vote 3rd parties.

Not vote 3rd parties, before changing the voting system.

In gamer terms...

It's like going to GameStop and they sell you a shitty 3rd party madcatz controller instead of an original 1st party one or imagine being a kid back in 2006 asking for a DS or a PSP for Christmas and then you get some shitty leapfrog learning handheld. That's what it pretty much means to vote for a 3rd party.

Also, not sure why the argument "it's their right" makes much sense.

On this very forum people routinely 'frown' on others bad choices and consequences. (example: "Fair, next")

Why should voting be exempt. Is it sacred in some way?

No but its a waste currently. Which kinda sucks since we probably have around 5-6 very distinct factions spread out over both main parties right now.

The Democrats especially could splinter into 3-4 parties without issue.

No, we get it, but a vote only matters if you think about it as representative of a larger group.

No election I've ever voted in will be off by 1 vote, but if I think of my vote as representing say 5% of like minded people in the population, then it definitely matters.

The only reason we are stuck in a 2 party system is because people are resigned to a false binary that pretty much everybody agrees is ruining the country. So the people doing what they can to fight that aren't naive or ignorant.
