The video itself doesn't seem like the sorta stuff Ubisoft generally show themselves.

Yeah, that seems about right

Looks exactly like odyssey reskinned. I bought the ultimate edition for odyssey and got burnt out by the boring side quests and question marks. I couldn't even do the dlc after spending 80+ hours on main game.

Well it sure does look like an Assassin's Creed game :\
While I enjoyed Odyssey I do wonder why they didn't just retire the Assassin's Creed series and make a new open world RPG if they really wanted to make that change, because while I did use an Assassin build in Odyssey, it was completely possible to not stealth, at all, and in the games prior to (I'm guessing, since I didn't play) Origins, that was impossible.

As for the gameplay itself, it...looks like an open world RPG, lately, they all seem to be blending together nowadays since they're kinda over saturated, to the point that really, the only thing I care about is gameplay, story, and characters when I see a new open world MMO

The best part about Assassins Creed games is that theyre always half off after like 2 months

That was my thought too, I get they're based off similar regions, but...damn, like I mentioned above, they're all kinda blending together at this point, unless the setting is mor fantastical, and has a presentation that isn't realistic, most open world games are kinda gonna look samey

I'll probably be buying this at some point, as I enjoyed Odyssey, as I'm one of those people who easily gets sidetracked by sidequests and the like, but...I kinda hope that the open world RPG fad dies down a bit, and instead, we get slightly more linear, contained experiences.

This is what the series' been going towards since Origins.

Also, ok so I never fully got into Odyssey even though I beat it recently because Kassandra was like four feet tall. And I figured maybe it's just because people were shorter on average back then idk.

But this looks like the same effing problem where the character is so short the rest of the world just seems really disproportionate.

It's a different camera angle, further back behind the player; old AC games had a much more over-the-shoulder perspective.

Not coincidentally, I got motion sickness playing those older games.

Because the Assassin's Creed IP name is still too valuable for them to drop.

Same as to why they slap Tom Clancy on a post-apocalyptic looter shooter.

Or why Far Cry has gone prehistoric and also post-apocalyptic.

Ubisoft stick with these same franchise names for their big budget stuff.

Also just going to point out that stealth has been an optional thing in AC for a really long time. At most there's like bonus objectives that are optional.

I hope they let you change it. I had no problem with Origins but in Odyssey I just felt like an insect in the world and it was really disorienting and off-putting.

Thanks for pointing out what it is though, almost 100 hours in Odyssey and I never could put my finger on it.

This, and since it focuses on doing things like climbing and sprinting on top of roofs...you get the feeling that everything is much, much bigger than you, because at least as far as environments go...they are :P

@Darmik Touche

Admittedly, I hadn't played an Assassin's Creed since Black Flag and I never really finished that one, it was Odyssey being based off a point in time that really interested me that dragged me back in, and the RPG elements definitely helped, Valhalla going with another favorite setting of mine mostly due to Norse mythology means I'll at least have my eye on this haha

For comparison

You can see Kassandra's feet, and she takes up a smaller chunk of the screen than Jacob (Syndicate)

The FOV seems wider in Odyssey too.

From memory Syndicate probably has the best stealth gameplay of the series (I haven't played Origins or Odyssey) but yeah it was completely optional. It was just as easy just killing everyone or using berserk darts.

Even in the stealth gameplay you can murder guards in front of innocent people with no consequence. Which I'm pretty sure was always a thing in AC. Only guards matter.

Funnily enough I think Watch Dogs is probably the better open world stealth series.

My dudes! WD2 was fantastic. I loved how you could complete most of the missions pretty much just by using your drones. I hope they keep that aspect in Legion.
