Yeah, I know. I haven't seen all of them, plus, there was one I left off because I didn't want to trigger dozens of CE posters.

Really? It was kinda cool. You got to see Clea DuVall get her head cuf off. Why is that a bad thing?

The thing that bothered me, though, is that Mars being a matriarchy is made a big thing at the beginning of the film, but is rarely mentioned or relevant later on. This is like one of those Tommy Wiseau subplots, that appear and then instantly disappear.

Big Trouble in Little China

Okay Tier

Ghosts of Mars
In The Mouth of Madness

Mouth of Madness is considered one of his more minor films, I believe. Big Trouble is a good film, but after rewatching it for the first time in about 20 years, I was a little disappointed.

You know what's strange about Vampires? It's really violent for a Carpenter film. I mean, obviously his horror films have quite strong violence to begin with, but Vampires has to be the nastiest. I'm not complaining...I'm just saying.

In the Mouth of Madness has the most gorgeous actress ever in it: Julie Carmen. Pretty trippy film too. I've never heard of a lot of these films, but I suppose I'll add them to my list.

Watch the opening title sequence of the 1951 original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjuLZwlDxh8&list=PLXftJrfB4EamiSluo9WK5w5Hgfc4tcmry

Compare it to the opening title sequence in Carpenter's remake. Don't tell me Carpenter wasn't paying tribute to the original movie there.

Is Prince of Darkness that good? I caught a little bit of it one time and all I remember is a bunch of people trapped in a hospital with zombie-like people outside. They weren't attacking them but just standing outside.

To say it's better than the masterpiece that is The Thing, or as fun as Big Trouble/They Live. Has me guessing if I should re-watch it.

It's really not. It's a weird movie that's almost wholly style over substance. I would suggest you give it a shot though, there's some memorable neat stuff between the bad b movie pacing

It's pretty good, although I'm not sure I'd put it in his top 5.
