I actually like Abby but yeah that scene was uncomfortable and out of place in context. Its completely out of tone with the scene where Owen is depressed and doesnt want to continue fighting anymore while Abby feels the same way but still wants to see it through to the end and then tries to force him by strangling him before they have sex even though Owen has a pregnant girlfriend . Abby has a nightmare and ends up thoroughly regretting it. Honestly it gave me the same vibes as Game of Thrones Jaime on Cerseis rape scene.

Is it just because she isn't attractive? I haven't played yet, but after a google search I saw a screenshot and outside of that, I can't figure out why people are upset about it.

Is she trans? I remember that was something people were upset about, but I never looked too far into it out of fear of seeing spoilers.

Alright. I wasn't judging btw, I honestly was asking. I always cringe during video game cut scenes, so I'm not against saying something was added for the sake of having it. I probably will cringe during this one as well.

iirc, you get hints that Owen still loves Abby, but they broke up because of her being really violent/super into her revenge, and that he isn't super into Mel, and in that scene, they kinda had to confront the fact that feelings are still there for the both of them

so I think that I can understand why there was a sex scene, but I generally don't like sex scenes in anything outside of porn, so I kinda checked out as it was happening

I haven't played the game and have no interest in playing it. The only reason I'm upset that this scene exists is that Sony has been actively preventing Japanese developers from including risque (and not all explicit) content in their games for the past couple years. With their reasoning literally being "think of the children!". But it's totally fine for this American developer to have a straight up sex scene in their game.

1. "Looking underage" is subjective for a highly stylized art style. But plenty of those games featured girls with large racks, so no.

2. The South Park games have children in sexual encounters (including rape, IIRC) for the sake of comedy. Not an excuse.

Bottom line is Sony just hates Japan (their HQ moved to California a few years ago).
