Board 8 > b8 ranks songs [interest gauge]

I've noticed a number of topics where groups of people rank things, and also where individuals rank things. Group rankings seem fun. Something I've noticed from comments of people in group ranking projects is that the projects are often too large that it becomes overwhelming. I've seen comments of people turning down a project because of an 80 hour requirement. So how about a project where we all rank songs, chosen by us, that only includes a few hours worth of songs. The number of songs per person would depend on the amount of interested parties. I'm thinking the rules would be something like: You submit songs privately to me. Then after everyone has submitted, I reveal the full list (without revealing who submitted what). Those who want to engage in the ranking listen to all the songs, then everyone submits to me a ranking of them, with write-ups. Then we have a ranking topic! This is not an official nomination topic. This topic is just about interest. Do you like the idea? I haven't done one in a while, but the idea was that a list of 100 songs is taken...either host-created or via nominations...and then the list is split into groups of (say) 5 and divvied out to people to rate. I split the list several times, so there were multiple different circuits people were assigned to, and after they rated 5 songs, they could ask for another block from that circuit. We kept going until everything got ranked 5 times. I'll explain in greater detail if that sounds at all like what you were thinking. --- Congratulations to all the gurus, past and present, participating in the contest. Will it be the first x amount nominated or will it be a '+20-+1' point system where the top songs are selected. There are millions of songs, what are the chances that songs get picked more then once. Unless whomever posts first influences other's rankings.
