As much as I agree with the removal of offensive stereotypes towards race...special needs people are getting the short end of the stick. And whats the saddest is as people make fun of them, they often cant even stick up or advocate for themselves :/

I think it's more disappointing that people think handicapped people shouldn't ever be a part of insult comedy. There are handicapped people who hate that they are excluded from being a part of the experience when people are ripping on each other. The context is that everyone in that show is an insensitive piece of shit anyway. And they walk the line like a fuckin tightrope but I still don't think they've ever entered into malicious territory. Correct me if I'm wrong, of course.

And I don't expect everyone to be on board with that because it's such a touchy subject and of course all handicapped people don't think alike, so there will be many who would see me as a lover of hate for this sentiment. There is no wrong or right as far as I can see it. Just preference.

Also, spoiler alert: Danny DeVito literally did blackface on the newest season

but yeah man. The way you came at what I said reasonably and elaborating on it deeper tells me you get what I was getting at. My friend worked for a handicap guy and he'd talk about how he loved super insulting comedy and them ripping on each other.

I technically am legally handicapped cause of my severe scoliosis. And tbh, Im more uncomfortable when people start to say sympathetic things to me. I try to change the topic immediately. But I don't mind jokes about my back being crooked and shit. The references to it on shows almost always make me laugh. I think Dee's backbrace bit was about scoliosis.

Probably the same time Disney gets full control over Family Guy and the other FOX shows and sanitizes them for our protection.

Though with some stuff I have to wonder how exactly they're going to change it to make it inoffensive to the people it offends. Like for example the TV show The Dukes Of Hazzard. What can they do there? Put a big floating censor bar over the Confederate flag on the roof of the car and dub over every mention of the car's name (General Lee)? Or just completely nuke those scenes with the car in it along with any mentions of it?

Thanks for posting this, when I reflected on what you said here I realized I was totally wrong on this. I wanted to say that it was done to show that it's something that only horrible people would do, but that in itself is so patronizing to black people when we've known these types of portrayals are grossly offensive and morally wrong from the beginning, and that in fact the cruelty was the entire point from the start.

Yeah honestly it's been pretty eye opening to me in regards to just how overused this concept is in modern comedy. We get it, blackface bad, but I didnt realize every show has done it lol
