Why should people be obsessed with the social category that is one of the fundamental divides in our society that's existed since before the founding, caused a Civil War, and one of the biggest genocides in human history, and is currently causing disproportionate pain from both Covid and the economic crisis? its just hard to see because on one hand you have well meaning people trying to enact actual change and fight for everyone to be equal regardless of skin color

and you have a smaller but potentially growing subset that seem to have the same hatred in their hearts as those they hate unfortunately. And they have their own bible, mantras, original sin, etc

In a vaccum sure. Ideally the human race wouldve never even thought up the concept of dividing people into groups based on minor physiological differences in skin color/face structure etc. We are all just human.

But in the context of what is happeningand has happened in the past its something that really needs to be discussed and works on.

There is absolutely an obsession with racial identity in the US, at least. But it is debatable whether or not that is a good thing to focus on, as opposed to a pandemic or the failing economy, for example.

You know she's only talking about the people saying that racism is bad and trying to fix it and its effects, not the people flying confederate flags and wanting to MAGA. There is no need to separate those things and act like they're separate. It's fully possible to focus on both.
