Yeah it's really easy to get into and a very good method of losing weight.

A big pitfall I think is people thinking you can just feast during your period of eating. Just get your body used to eating your target calories within a frame. I found it easy to skip breakfast and eat between noon and 8 pm, just make sure your 8pm meal includes protein that will be filling for the rest of the day!

I lost about 45 pounds in 5 months doing it (25 y/o male, 6'3", starting at 255 lbs) and have kept it off since with some fluctuations. Last time I weighed myself (a week or so ago) I was 215.

Works like any other diet. In that it'll work if you are disciplined enough to actually follow it.

It obviously helps to have a 'time frame' to eat because in theory you'll be eating less, but eating 4,000 calories in 6 hours compared to in 10 hours...is still 4,000 calories.

I go through periods where I'll end up doing this. I don't do it for any weight loss reason, it's just easier for me to prepare a bigger dinner and helps me save money on groceries

I've been doing it for about a little over a month now. Decent results. Definitely not hard. It's like I plateau though. Like I'll get down to a certain weight and think I have had a really good day and then the next day I'll weigh like 2 lbs more than the previous day. Idk.

I did it for a year when I was younger. It was great, and I had tons of energy. Moreso than the years prior and years foment. But there's a good chance that simply don't from having very regimented habits. Planning my day around my calorie window forced me to be more considerate about what I ate, when I exercised, when I woke/slept, etc. I stopped because I started to pull late nights for my engineering classes, and it's very difficult to focus on homework when you're hungry at 1AM. It's also a pain for your social life. Too many cheat days in a row will fuck up your hunger/ energy cycles if that makes sense.

In general, if you're not really up to much right now with covid, it might be a good time to try it. Just know the first 2 weeks or so are the worst, with your energy and mood shitty during your fasting window. Eventually though your body will be trained to get hungry a bit before your calorie window and when you eat your other regular meals.

Edit: I also didn't use it for weight loss, I was trying to slowly gain weight while lifting. This just kept me lean.

I lost about 10 pounds in a month. Exercised regularly and a vegan heavy diet. (16:8)

it works if you stick with it, but it gets difficult when friends or family want to eat or gather during your restricted hours

I had great results when I combined intermittent fasting with Keto.

However pretty much any healthy diet works w/ exercise, it just all comes down to how disciplined you are. Keto has been easiest for me because I still get to eat all sorts of good stuff like bacon and steak.

I was doing 16:8 before the pandemic. It was pretty great. It really helped me with binge eating and even further regulated my bowel movements (which were already pretty on point).

I don't follow anything as regimented as then but I do still skip breakfast (absolute game changer for me tbh) and take two big meals between 11am and 9pm, usually. I'm not so strict with it now that I don't really have a schedule and things to do.

It's not a magic pill like some think but it's worth checking out, especially if other things have failed. It seems like all the counter-intuitive things or those that against prevailing wisdom have helped me the most.

? You're walking 40+ miles over 8 hours? You'll definitely lose it by doing that.

16 hours fasting with an 8 hour eating window.

Check out the intermittent fasting subreddit. That's where I got my info.

I'm currently doing a 36 hour fast for the past 2 weeks. Cardio almost every day (1 mileish of running a day) and a work out regimen. It feels really good up until the nighttime on days you haven't eaten.

Not much to be said in terms of results because I'm only finishing up the second week. But I can see a visible difference and feel a difference already.

Oh I meant 8 miles, so it's basically two ~43-45 minute sessions if I have the time

Ive been doing it since January. One meal a day(dinner only). I was just eating too much...and Ive noticed some huge differences which is great.

First, I get full WAY faster now. I feel like my stomach has shrank, meaning I cant gorge on food like I used too. Youd think not eating breakfast or lunch would make you ravenous come dinner time, but I eat a regular sized dinner. And I have to eat a lot slower now, because eating fast will make me feel way too full and terrible.

When exercising more, I noticed it was definitely harder to stick to the one meal a day fast. But I started doing this thing where on weekdays, I do one meal a day. Weekends I do no intermittent fasting, so it gives me something to look forward to.

Although, I think eating whatever on weekends is ruining results from during the week, so I think Im gonna commit more to it.

I've noticed a lot better focus and memory on it, too. Less depressed. Easier to be happy. Better mood.

Plus you save a TON of time and money only worrying about dinners only. Not having to plan each meal and worry about what Im eating next. Sundays I meal prep enough food for like 4 days.

Yeah. Usually I eat dinner around 7-9 PM and then my next meal wouldn't be until about noon the next day. If you sleep for 8-9 hours you're really only awake without food for a short period of time. You'll get used to the restriction pretty quick. My biggest issue is that I would "idle eat" and now I try to keep myself busy. Even with video games I can ignore the "wow I"m bored i should eat" stimulus I get.

Weighing yourself everyday is pointless, you only need to weigh once a week or not at all.

I've done it in the past but it isn't ideal for me. I find it more difficult to function well without eating throughout the day. It's just a method to restrict calories, if it works for you then good and if it doesn't try something else

The first week of 36 hour fasting was way harder than the second so far. If you can get through one week I'd recommend it.
