It's announced to be 6'5 28 year old Matt James, a former professional football player, now real estate agent..and he attended the BLACK LIVES MATTER protests not too long ago! He was named the new lead where the outrage over police brutality has been the subject of america's rage in recent weeks since the death of George Floyd as global protests are demanding change in policing and lack of diversity and inclusitivity in the Bachelor from former stars has finally had ABC listening The North Carolina native who now lives in NYC was originally cast in the upcoming season of the Bachelorette but instead ABC decided to choose him as the next Bachelor instead and it was fast tracked as execs were eyeing him for awhile. The next season of the Bachelorette was put on hold amid COVID-19. ABC exec, Karey Burke said they got to know Matt while on hiatus and said he'd make the perfect male bachelor. She says the studio has been eyeing him long before the protests which has lead backlash from the hot franchise not casting black male leads, including from its first black female former bachelorette, Rachel Lindsay who threatened to end her association with the show if things didn't change. Karey Burke said "This announcement wasn't a response to the protest. We could have made this annoucement earlier or later. Certainly no one is blind to what is happening in the world, so hopefully this announcement serves as a bit of optimism during a time we can really use this". They dont view this as a "cure all" but they hope this can work towards more diversity and equality in its shows Matt's season will premiere sometime next year as Rachel Lindsay says the network should do more than simply cast a black man in a lead role such as hiring producers of people of colour. She was hoping she would come on as a trailblazer for diversity but in the last 3 years since she was on, nothing changed and it was back to the same white casting. Matt hopes this casting will be a step in the right direction while praising Rachel for speaking out and advocating for change. When asked if it was too little too late, he said nothing is ever the wrong time to do the right thing.. Beauty is often subjective. For example, some people hate tattoos, so someone with them will be ugly compared to the same person without them. There are men who I thought were okay-looking only to find that every woman I was with absolutely gushed over him -- as well as a gay friend -- and others who I thought they'd be floored by only to hear that they found him kind of average. Likewise, my female friends and colleagues have called some women beautiful who I'd barely consider cute while overlooking women I find gorgeous (although in that case, it could always also be a jealousy thing). But that's only natural when you're coming from a completely different viewpoint because you're always going to see things differently depending on whether you're attracted to the sex. In fact, looking over previous contestants, I would consider maybe a quarter of them to greatly appeal to women, about a third strike me as being better than average in that regard, and the remainder I'm not even sure why they chosen (given that they're worse than tv-ugly).
