Unless you mean that they just naturally change genders or the success of this makes surgery and medicine so cheap yet so perfect and still more accessible, equality come without time and progress.

Trans people should not need justification for simply existing. Breaking and redefining what gender actually is is what needs to happen if it's anything even close to equality is to become anything more than a pipe dream.

The more I see the US tear itself apart by ideologies, the more I question whether equality, as a concept exists or is even obtainable. It should be the ideal and should be the goal, no doubt but here isn't even equality among men and women. Trans people have a very tough road ahead and often times, sadly, they don't even have the support of their gay, bi, queer and lesbian comrades.

Rights as a protected class or more than that? The main issue of that argument is the idea for rights varies vastly depending on who is talking. Making sure they have country wide protection as a protected class is fine, but anything more than that is reaching into areas of major debate.

Although I do find it humorous that people would bring up the "well let's be careful not give them too much that they don't deserve" idea when the alternative in this poll is "give me 100,000 dollars".

if by "equality for trans people" you mean "the permanent dismantling of the numerous societal structures that result in transphobia" I would take that in a heartbeat, but that would also mean an end to racism and capitalism, which I'm assuming is beyond the scope of the topic

Like I don't agree with all that stuff about genders and sexes being a construct and having no relevancy in people's lives. That's just closing your eyes and brain off and letting your heart overpower logic. But it would be easier to deal with that and work back fromconfusion then it would be to keep responding to it with hate speech and actions.
