It was on the Wii. I remember playing it a lot. And I showed a friend who thought it was weird and wouldn't be fun. Then proceeded to come to my dorm room nearly everyday to play more. It was weirdly addicting... But kind of fun. Did anyone here play it? And what are you thoughts on it...

I have the Darklord version on my Wii.
I never played it but my brother did(we shared the same Wii and he was the one who actually bought the game).

I never saw him playing it though so I have no idea how the gameplay looks like.

I did. Binge played it for days in a row. Think I started getting bored after 60-70 hours of gameplay though

I never got any of the DLC. But if I knew about it, I would have...

I remember I stopped, but cant remember why the first time. The second time was because my friend was always playing it, so I just didnt get much time. And after I left that base, I just didnt use it much. Afterwards, the Wii stopped working...

I remember being interested in it, but never actually taking the plunge to purchase it because there was always soemthing else that I prioritized my Wii Points for. I'd completely forgotten about it until this topic, which has rekindled my interest and made me resent the fact that the Wii Shop has shut down and rendered it inaccessible.

Yeah. The Wii Shop shutting down sucks. But maybe theyll remake it soon. Lots of games are getting remakes, so theres always hope...

Also, I forget about the game often. But Im always reminded wherever I hear about crystal chronicles...

I did play My Life As a King. I think it would actually be really neat to like remake it but make it more modern. While the gameplay was really simple, something about it was just engaging.

Was it anything like the original? That game was fun, but sent me into a fury when I realized I needed a GBA to play with a friend.

I never had the DLC, AFAIK. But I probably would have liked to try it...

No. Its pretty different, from what I remember. Though, I wasnt excited about the GBA thing. Though, I heard that game is being remade or remastered or something. And it should be easier to play with others.

Ya, the GBA thing was a complete ball-drop. The mutliplayer is actually pretty good.

I always thought a Wii/WiiU version would work, being able to control the game with the DS wirelessly, but that never came about.

Yeah. That could have worked. Especially since we know it connected well, like with SSB for both systems. But the new one has multiplayer, AFAIK. So, that should work... As long as you have more than one system...

I wonder if it was initially designed with the Dreamcast in mind, since all the GBA features could be done from the VMU

I don't think so. The VMU was tiny. And I don't think it would have worked well trying to use it for crystal chronicles, tbh. And I only knew a couple games that really used it as something other than a memory card...

Honestly, the only relevant content on the GBA screen was your map type (which didn't really matter) and your bonus type (critical).

all the VMU would have to do is tell you what your bonus type is

Sure. But that's assuming that all they wanted to do with the screen. They may have wanted to use it for more. The VMU would have been the best for it. Plus, it seems weird to think they would have made it with the VMU in mind. IDK. I mean, Nintendo themselves had already dabbled in connect handheld systems to consoles already. It was probably designed with that in mind instead... Which makes sense, considering it is on a Nintendo console...

Though, I did hear it had more on the screen when you used it... You could still play with a controller for single player. But if you use a GBA, you had a bunch of stuff on the screen...
