I have heard it's pretty good! Have never seen it in action myself, other than the E3 showing. Has an 85 on OpenCritic, if that matters to people.

I definitely enjoyed it a lot. I don't think there's another strategy RPG where the act of moving is so much fun and has so many tactical options involved (dashing through enemies, jumping off your teammates, etc.).

I think it would be slightly better if you just went from battle to battle instead of navigating the world map. There's a bunch of rudimentary puzzles that revolve around pushing buttons and sliding boxes and they're not very much fun compared to the actual battles.

I could tell it was a well made game, but it wasn't the SRPG I was hoping for. I guess I just need my turn-based strategy games to have proper exp. and level mechanics for me to really get into them. Yeah there's the skill learning, but the skill points appeared to be limited and more or less based on story progression. Good game, but just wasn't for me.

a sequel to this game with a less restrictive party could be one of my favorite games ever

it was super annoying that I had to use Mario in and at lease one rabbid in each battle... even just removing the mario requirement would make me a lot happier

Yeah, the movement mechanics were absolutely a ton of fun, but it's up to you whether that balances out the lack of other features you might expect from an SRPG. I personally enjoyed it a lot.

Super great game! Definitely a sleeper on the Switch, which is weird since it literally has Mario in it.

As others have indicated, it may not be as fully fleshed out as you'd want if you're used to the likes of XCOM, but it's a great experience with a ton of personality and easily the best movement mechanics in the genre if nothing else.
