Look I get it, once somebody commits terrorism I really don't have a defense for them.

I'm more just annoyed with parts of society that are gung-ho to abandon and expect horrible things from people before they've done anything wrong.

Once somebody does terrorism for whatever reason, fuck 'em sure, but before then idk this feels a bit like "incels are violent and likely to commit terrorism, let's all re-double our efforts to never have empathy for people who are chronically lonely."

All terrorism is bad, inventing subcategories doesn't really change/help anything but whatever.

It groups the crime in an attempt to figure it out. Figure out why someone would kill someone just because they cant get laid. The first step in figuring out and preventing the problem is admitting that it is a problem and finding similar signs. At some point, a group of people openly committing these crimes or talking about them freely on the internet becomes more than just random occurrences. We shouldnt be encouraging incel behavior of any kind. It should be called out.

Again, No. They just classified this, and likely future acts that are similar, as acts of terrorism committed in the name of the Incel mentality, in this case, someone who fell in with that "all women are bitches because they won't sleep with me, sex workers are also bad blah blah blah" and murdered an apparent sex worker. They are likely creating this classification to group future acts of violence like this together so they can learn more about what turns people into Incels and what further turns them into murderers because of it.

...the fact that you saw this and got so upset that you instantly assumed it meant "anyone who can't get laid is now considered a terrorist" is kinda odd....

Not necessarily.

Especially for, but not necessarily reserved for. The incel community tends to follow the same core beliefs with regard to women. If someone kills in the name of those beliefs i don't see why the word terrorism can't be used here. Its not saying everyone who can't get laid and is frustrated by it is a terrorist. But once they let that frustration cross over into violence, especially as a result of their ideologies (women are bitches, they owe me, chad and stacy) i think its really no different than someone who does it in the name of a religion.

Others just kill because their life sucks and they are venting [deadly] rage. Those guys don't fill the bill. Both belong to that community or have certain shared beliefs but have differing motivations. I do not think the incel community in general encourages mass murder of women but I'm not sure. Certain sects of Islamism do. This seems too sweeping of a measure for the future, but ah well. It definitely fits in this case given what the perps motivations were.
