This much I have concluded. Other than that I question the idea that the world is asking for a remake of one of the most classic films of all time. Call Me By Your Name director Luca Guadagnino has signed on to take over the project. There are already two versions of the gangster classic: the first, from 1932 starring Paul Muni and directed by Howard Hawks (The Big Sleep), and the second is the notorious 1983 production starring Al Pacino thats directed by Brian De Palma (Mission: Impossible). I always dreaded when they were going to finally do it because I never had hope for Hollywood doing it right. This gives me hope and interests the hell out of me. I can't imagine how a Coens version of is going to play out and that's a good thing because it won't be a typical safe remake. I wonder how it's going to be done. The original was about an Italian immigrant who got into bootlegging liquor. The remake was about a Cuban immigrant getting into cocaine dealing/trafficking. What's the next evolution here?
