For years I have wished that Marvel would do some kind of massive universe reboot event where the X-Men get erased from the main universe and then get put into a different one where other super heroes and villains don't exist. just mutants. It never made sense to me that people would have such hatred for mutants but not mind all these other super beings running around. It should just be normal humans, and mutants.

and DC should do the same thing with Batman. Batman is so different from a lot of the rest of the DC universe. and he would be just fine on his own I think. besides, people love Batman so much he has gotten so much lore expansion from writers over the decades. to the point that he really does have his own fully fleshed out corner of the DC universe. it could very easily work without ever interacting with the other heroes.

I know neither of these wishes will ever come true though

I can't help but laugh at those who say the hatred of the X-Men in Marvel doesn't make sense.
Real-life hatred, racism, discrimination,... doesn't make sense. It's entirely based on emotion, not logic. There are racist douchebags cheering their favorite football teams despite the large number of black NFL athletes.

Youre missing his point. He is saying that people hating mutants because they are different and at the same time saying YAY SPIDER-MAN! is stupid.

honestly in Marvels case, it would make much more sense to just be racist towards New Yorkers, since 99 percent of the shit that goes down in that universe all happens in one fucking city. >_>

I like in DC that they at least try to give each heros home their own unique feel and aesthetic.

Uhu, just like white people hating black people because they look different but at the same time saying YAY MIAMI DOLPHINS! is stupid.
If anyone missed a point here, it's you missing mine.

Spidey is that friendly neighbour teenager that helps everybody, while the X-Men are hiding and destruction happens around them.

Mutants are nature's mistake. It is not like an accident who an happen to any of us. They spit in the face of the maker, and have to be dealt with.

It's not just the mutant powers the Marvel people fear. Some mutants don't even have dangerous powers, they just look weird and they still get hated.

Mutant powers are caused by genetics and any child born might be a mutant. People fear mutants are the next step in evolution and that they will take over from the regular humans and make them second class citizens or worse. This (in their eyes) makes mutants an existential threat to the human race. Much like homo sapiens was to Neanderthals.

It also doesn't help acceptance is that you have mutant terrorists like Magneto running around calling themselves homo superior and actively try to start wars with humans.

We know that Spiderman is no mutant, but why would the average person in Marvels New York know that?

They don't know. He gets plenty of hate though, and has been accused of being a mutant several times.

Spider-Man is about the worst example you can pick as he's routinely hated/feared by the NYC citizens. Each time the general public perception of him improves, it gets kicked back to status quo as Spidey is the "down on his luck, but keeps fighting" superhero.
Franklin Richards (Invisible Woman and Mr Fantastic's kid) is a far better example as he is an actual mutant who isn't feared or hated because he's part of the beloved Fantastic Four. The general public doesn't know or care that he's a mutant.

Oh lord, it is never this technical or indepth. Humans hated mutants basically and mainly because they were simply different. All the shit you're spewing why humans hated mutants is some over-justification.

Humans have no way to knowing if a super human is different from a mutant.

You're right. I couldn't imagine going into such dramatic technical details to rationalize a shitstorm of a plot.
