I did in fact make such a bracket, but I took quite a few liberties with the field that proved to be unpopular. I do like constructing mock brackets, so I'll probably update it if there's enough support, especially if I can get some sort of read on which characters we think don't belong.

I want a new Series contest. I know others do.

If anything the last one was run too early. There weren't really 32 notable series. Now you could do a 64 entrant bracket that is more interesting than that 32 entrant bracket ever was. Also if Zelda is left out as the championship match we don't know who would win it, which is unique. Rallies aside the last contest without a clear frontrunner was GotD1.

Also the 90's are top heavy. They rule the roost then drop off hard. But I'd love to see Game of the 90's, and I like the idea of taking the top 40 from each decade that got a contest, and the 8 80's games that made it to the second round in 2009, and doing an all-star Best Game Ever bracket.

I'd much prefer just getting Best Game Ever IV instead. It's functionally identical to Game of the 90s in the later rounds, but we get rid of all these terrible fodder in the earlier rounds.

Agreed. Voted 90s contest. Lot of star-power in the major franchises, and we've had some recent remakes that could drive some extra hype (RE2/3, Zelda LA, FF7R, etc.)

I agree that a regular game contest is effectively a 90s contest once you get far enough along. there's no need to run a strictly 90s contest.

Castlevania I should be stronger than Castlevania II. Unsure of TMNT because of its bad reputation of being too hard (I disagree, but still). Also, there would be Sim City (1989), Prince of Persia (1989), Maniac Mansion, Ninja Gaiden, Dragon Quest, Ultima and Zelda II.
Maybe Bionic Commando? It got sequels in 2010.

Rallies would be difficult for nearly all of the entrants in a 90s contest.

Except for Pokemon.

Also, Series has the most potential for utterly lopsided blowouts. We may have more series available to us, but I don't think it's going to give us a higher ratio of exciting matches.

Exactly my thought. The ones that insinuate it's been the longest since they've ran are generally leading here. I wonder how this would look without the years insinuated.

Also, we already had a Game of the 90s contest. It was called BGE1 and FF7 won it in 2004.

I also like game of the 90s because it probably has the deepest pool of things that would be decent but would never get nominated (Smash 64!)

You know what? Best Super Mario/Zelda/Final Fantasy/Smash/Pokemon/Chrono/Metal Gear/Metroid game ever. Include ALL the games in those series and let it rip!!

Add Mega Man if you wish and include Sonic at your own risk.

These matches are really what we want to see.

And then there's rallied CD-i Zelda potentially crushing everything in its path.

You can't let the obviousness of the finals detract from what could be a very interesting bracket.

Sure the SNES would destroy the Genesis in a direct matchup, but I think we all want to see how it plays out.

How about N64 vs PS1? Dreamcast vs Xbox? 360 vs PS3?

I think a console contest can be a lot of fun, and maybe we can get back to 1 24 hour match/day
