Yeah that's how it's been here in NY too. Everyone is required to wear a mask in public if you can't social distance, but you also can't get them anywhere. I guess you can make the no-sew bandana ones but they suck.

I've been reusing my same N95 at work for weeks. I read you can sanitize them by putting them in the oven at low heat but haven't tried it yet. Our distributor said all the mask shipments are getting diverted to healthcare places, which is nice, but at the same time there's other essential workers out there that need them.

Any required PPE is to be provided by the employer at no cost to the employee. If they cannot provide, they cannot require.

Yeah. And no I am not cutting up my T-shirts to make a terrible makeshift mask.

I tried a few things around the house but they dont work for prolonged periods. The compete with my glasses for the space behind my ears and keep slipping off and/or causing my glasses to tilt.

and yeah if Corporate comes in and gets mad at me for not having a mask I am telling them to suck my dick.

We have some lame cloth ones. If we get real masks, we are planning on fitting velcro closures to the clothes ones, and put the real ones inside (for looks).

The place I work at (currently working from home) has the safety folk that remained on-site pretty much working all hours to make sure masks are available for everyone. Like they're right by the entrance.

I found an article from Harris County, Texas which i assume is Houston or in that area but the link was too long to post. You can Google "1000 dollar fine for not wearing a mask" and it will show up.

Just one place but others are adopting this as well.

I just don't like the government saying "don't buy masks...we bought all the masks...wear masks or were fining you".
Kind of seems like entrapment to an extent

This, they can't require it of you. So don't show up with PPE you can't buy. Then pointedly ask your boss if he's illegally requesting you to donate PPE to the company if he bugs you about it.

Our work supplied masks suck...

My company made a mandatory gloves rule a few weeks ago but changed it overnight. Told people to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer and as a last ditch resort use gloves. An executive sent out a mass email again saying to get gloves and I responded to him reminding him that's option 3 and there is a medical supply shortage. He knows I'm right so no reason to respond but I haven't heard my work pushing the issue in a while. If you go into a place that requires the use of medical equipment as a visitor they are required to supply you with safety gear, not the other way around.

Even better is that for years wearing a mask in public got you huge fines in some areas. Now you can go around with a bandana over your face like its nothing.

same here! Starting tomorrow every employee is required to wear a mask. I'm just gonna wear the single surgical mask i have everyday. I can't wear a bandana or anything like that for a mask lol

If they can't afford PPE, they can't afford me.

Don't risk yourself for rich assholes who are safely tucked away in a mansion.

If you guys are working in customer facing positions like food/retail then there will likely be a government mandate in place for your company stating they need to supply PPE. Still though, this first apples to the company and THEN to you when the PPE is available.

I mean honestly I was literally going to buy a Halloween mask until people started getting me masks because it's only these emergent studies since January that have no credibility as of yet supporting the idea of wearing masks in general. Prior studies indicated that wearing masks have virtually no impact on transmission of viruses.
