Yeah I dont see American Psycho as a horror movie.

Blood alone horror. You dont go into it expecting to be scared. Its about a wealthy man of decent status becoming a serial killer.

Comedy, crime and drama on imdb. Personally, it's a thriller.

Yeah; I don't like 'em either. They fail to scare me and often the plots I find uninteresting. And the use of sound cues during "scary" scenes makes the mood come off as forced.

I voted The Ring, though. That one was okay.

Of those, I probably like Evil Dead 2 and American Werewolf in London the best.

If you liked Evil Dead 2 but don't really like horror movies, you should look into watching Army of Darkness (if you haven't already). It's almost more comedy/fantasy than it is horror, but it's set in the same universe, with Ash as the main character.

They did another movie a few years ago that basically serves as a prequel. Supposedly there's also a remake on the way. The original -- the one you want to watch -- is from the 80s.

If you do wind up liking The Thing, it's part of Carpenter's "Apocalypse Trilogy," although the other two films -- Prince of Darkness (also a great film in its own right) and Mouth of Madness (which I absolutely love, although it's a lot campier than the other two) -- aren't connected in terms of story or anything else. Out of the three, The Thing is clearly the best.

Okay I just finished the thing

that shit was incredible.

kurt russel is amazing, as always. The pacing is amazing. The fucking special effects are only rivaled by evil dead 2 and Jurassic park (to me, anyways) in the sense that all of it was fucking real as fuck and it looked like it.

what the fuck happened at the end tho. Was one of them the thing? It seemed like they wanted us to think that chiles (childs?) was the thing, but then why was Kurt russels clothes found earlier? And if the other guy was the thing, couldnt he have just offed him with the flamethrower right then and there?

The newer one.. is it worth watching at all?

It's meant to be open-ended. However, I believe that supplementary material revealed that neither one was the Thing. It was either a comic or game or something.

I have now seen The Thing.

Its pretty good. Well made, well paced, great design on the monster. Falls a bit flat for me personally mostly because horror is a genre that rarely reasonates with me, but I can see why horror fans love it.

That's the kinda tricky part. It's licensed material and it might have even had Carpenter's approval after the fact, but YMMV.

That one is a prequel. A very much line sequel

Spoiler: not plot so much as I said its a prequel
theending of the prrequel is the opening sequence of the helicopter shooting at the ifected h hi sky

sorryif a typo is in that my small display doesnt let me see the display to easily.

The big gripe that happened with the creature is it seems smarter in the sequel. Its not smarter it just uses a different set of tactics.
