I'm about as concerned as I am about dying from, say, a car accident.

That is to say, there is a persistent mild concern but it's not gonna keep me awake at night and if it happens, welp.

Sure I am, but I'll survive.

There are already a good number of people in my city with it, and I ride public transit to work so it's kind of out of my control

Define "concerned".

I think because of where I live, where I work, and how I live I'm pretty much guaranteed to get it if it spreads here. But I'm not that concerned about getting it since I don't consider myself to be at risk of dying from it. I'm more worried about what I'll do when I get to prevent spreading it to others.

I just had two 7hr layovers in SEATAC this past week. I'm currently feeling healthy as an ox, but I'm still a little concerned about all that time there.

I'm not worried about coronavirus for my own sake, since I'm young. I just don't want to pass it around.

The really big concern is if enough people get it at once to overwhelm the healthcare system.

I don't really care if I get it, but as someone who works at a church with a lot of elderly people, as well as at schools, I'm more concerned about passing it on to other people. That said, I live in Seattle, so right now I seem almost bound to catch it somehow no matter how careful I may be.

I'm more worried about a big earthquake hitting, which could happen any time.

The coronavirus is significantly more contagious than the flu based on current estimates.

I work at a high school, and based on how more common diseases tend to fare, all it takes is one person and we're all gonna get it.

I think I might have already got it. A couple of weeks ago I experienced pretty much all the symptoms minus fever (dry cough, fatigue, scratchy throat and shortness of breath, the latter being something I have never experienced before).
The symptoms were so mild however that I kept living my routine life, plus the fact that I don't typically follow the news meant that unbeknownst to me I might have contributed to spreading it.

Lately however the news are impossible to avoid since everyone talks about it, but now I feel perfectly fine.
Where I live, because of the over-the-top panic and hysteria if you only even jokingly mention something like possibly catching it you're going to be put into forced 14-days quarantine, which would be pretty devastating to my career. So I'm just keeping my mouth shut and live my life while doing my best to avoid unecessary contact with other people.
I have also instructed my family to avoid talking about the subject unless they catch a severe case. As long as it's just your average yearly cold/flu and standard precautions are being taken I see no reason to compromise my personal freedom.

Only because I work in a school district doing tech support. In other words, touching computers and iPads all day that kids with poor handwashing (or lack thereof) habits use. I get sick pretty often and it's not uncommon to see people go to work or school while sick and they bring some nasty things. I've seen people go to work with a full-on flu, multiple times.

But I'm not any more worried than I already am about getting any other virus. I just know that if it makes it into a school that it's likely it will spread quickly.

The shit that scares me is that in my district, we have people from the district offices that go in and out of different schools. I'm one of them. So if I get it from a high school, I could easily transmit it to some kindergarteners the next day unknowingly and get a whole classroom sick, all because a few people in a few classrooms requested technical support from me.

That's the really scary thing. And as I visit multiple schools per day, and others do as well...yeah, it's really easy to start a pandemic in the schools and it just takes a single person to start it all.

The really big concern is if enough people get it at once to overwhelm the healthcare system.
To follow up on this, if your attitude is "everybody's gonna get it anyway so why should I care", consider that even slowing down the spread is extremely important for preventing hospitals from getting overwhelmed. The numbers I've seen are that there are only like a million hospital beds in the country, and 2/3 of them are typically in use. If something like 10% of people require hospitalization, you start having major problems even with only a few million cases, let alone tens or hundreds of millions (and then significant fractions of healthcare workers could get sick and be out for weeks at a time).

So basically, wash your fucking hands, avoid touching your face and crowded events, and self quarantine if you're sick. Everyone doing that will considerably slow the spread even if it doesn't stop it.
