I hate it and I'm basically only staying right now so I can maybe get my dream job and not one I hate.

Why do people drink alcohol when they feel bad. It just makes you feel worse.

Basically I've been with my fiance for 2 years now, and she told me some things that I'm having a really, really tough time moving on from. Like, I can't see her in the same light anymore and thinking about it makes me physically sick. But bringing it up just makes her feel bad, so I held it in for the past few months and it's all just kind of burst.

I just wish I could forget I ever heard the things she told me. I'd be so much happier.

I'd rather not invite CE to mock me, so I'll omit the other two things, but she cheated on her ex husband. Now I can't stop thinking about if she's going to do it to me, or already has. I get suspicious of who she's talking to, where she is or what she's doing when I'm not around.

If your partner told you they killed someone, you would just be like "well, I still love you, this changes nothing"? Because that's about how I feel about cheating. I think it's disgusting and evil and only terrible people do it. So yeah, I would very much like to forget she told me that.

TC I think HBOSS is right in that you should definitely be asking questions but you need to find a logical conclusion rather than beating yourself up over the worst case scenarios and and compounding it by drinking.

Take a stance and work through this rather than letting it control your life. You will have to force yourself. And when you start, it will get easier to work through.

that's a terribly rough situation to be in

like, she's divorced, a cheater, and behavioral patterns don't generally change overnight

the rational course of action would be to break it off and run as fast as you can, but emotional attachment has a way of yielding suboptimal decisionmaking, and the emotional consequences of the optimal decision would almost certainly adversely impact academics

i'm not really sure what course of action is best here, it's just a really rough spot all around

i hope whatever you choose to do works out for you though

I'm just saying to me, cheating is just about the worst thing you can do, and the sadness and just plain awfulness of the fact that someone I love is capable of it hurts me very, very deeply. I also have OCD so my brain is just on fire with thoughts of her cheating on me and who she's texting and who she might hang out with.

I honestly feel like this is (logically speaking) no different than dudes who get anxiety from "Does she like me or not" and their brain instantly goes to "she might not like me" and then they feel bad about it.

It's just as logical/illogical to think the exact opposite thought. "She does like me" and feel good about it. "She isn't going to cheat on me".

I did, but not in a mean way. I just basically told her everything I told you guys, and how much what she told me upset me, and she brought up that we maybe shouldn't be together if I don't trust her. She promised she would break up with me if she wasn't happy with me instead of cheating, but how do I know that's true? How do I know we wouldn't have a fight one day and she tells me she has to stay late at work but instead she's...you know.

Dont beat yourself up about it TC. You feel how you feel about it, and its no ones fault. It would be unhealthy to try and continue a relationship when you no longer trust the other person.
