Anyway, I'm actually kinda legitimately enjoying the show. Yeah, it's pretty much just sex, but the setting is actually a bit of a sexual utopia, given the breadth of service available and the largely healthy attitude towards sex workers.

It's not one of those hentai shows that can't quite show everything and goes for seven minutes an episode and is just "guy and girl fuck". It's not a show where there's a bullshit reason given for all the sex (like Qwaser or Valkyrie Drive)

I can almost guarantee this had nothing to do with the production team. The director, writer, and all the actors and sound people would want to continue working on this project.

This smells of an executive or someone in legal who caught a sniff of this way too late and pulled the plug on the streaming distribution.

BUT this doesn't necessarily mean that the dub is cancelled and everyone is fired. I predict that they're going to continue recording and redubbing on the quiet, and then release this as a complete physical release, probably only through online venues, probably very quietly, and probably in a busy part of the year.

Funimation just needs an off "label" for the stuff they don't want busybody moms and moral firebrands to see.

Sitting on a property is the absolute worst. I believe in accessing a property through legal, ethical means. But if someone is sitting on a property and saying, "No, you can't watch this," that justifies accessing it by any means necessary.

Nobody has the right to say, "This show isn't for you."

I'm hoping they release a blu ray set and dont try to charge an arm and leg for it. At least funi titles are usually well priced. Nothing like aniplex

It's a high fantasy setting, like D&D or whatever.

In the main city where the protagonists live, there was a law passed some time ago that made it lawful for succubi to engage in sex work, given it was necessary for their health. The law extended to anyone who could trace having succubi blood in them, and since so many species have at least a little bit, it made it so the brothel industry became huge, with tons of establishments catering to whatever sapient species you might want. Humans, elves, avian, bovine, feline, demonic, slime, reptilian, amphibian.

Most of the sex workers are shown as being largely human with animal parts like horns and hooves and wings, although some are more anthropomorphic.

The main protagonists are a human (Stunk) and an elf (Zel) who are incredibly talented adventurers, so their life is basically spending their spoils on brothels and providing reviews at a local tavern, thus the title "Interspecies Reviewers". In the first episode, the pair are out in the wilderness and come across an angel (Crim) with a chipped halo who cannot return to heaven. They agree to watch over Crim as he heals with the end promise that at some point they'll be able to go with him to heaven and experience sex with a female angel (Crim is male, though male angels have both genitalia).

So Crim basically tags along with Stunk, Zel, and whoever else is joining the Reviewers (there's a small rotating cast of males of various species). Crim serves as the audience surrogate as the other two explain to him various aspects of lovemaking with different species.

Apparently the anime shows a lot more than the manga did. Although lower genitalia are obscured, boobs are out in full force in the uncensored version if you can find it. Actual sex scenes are on display, as well.

it's a show about a group of adventures (mainly a human male, an elf male, a shemale angel (he kept it secret to the other guys that he have 2 genitals), and random guy, usually a werewolf) that reviews interspecies prostitution.
it started when the human had an elf prostitute but the elf guy feels disgusted because he slept with a 500+ years old elf. the elf rather slept with a human grandma prostitute because her mana is still fresh, unlike the prostitute elf. they had a long debate and eventually got the idea to review every species.

I've done research on it, only the first two episodes and the first one the censorship isn't working (it flickers when the hardsubs come up). So I assume it was a mistake on the distributors end.

You're probably watching an edited version. One fansubber took Funi's version (since it has the highest video quality) and replaced all the sexy stuff with the uncensored version for the frames that were censored.

If someone made a show in which a person was transformed into a talking cartoon dog, and they proceeded to feature sex scenes between human and human-turned-dog, it'd still be bestiality as far as any legal or PR team was concerned.

It's the same thing here. The loli angel might've been around before the Earth was formed -- and might have such an advanced intellect that it's almost predatory for him to be with an insignificant human -- but the dude's still a child as far as it counts.

If they've had lolicon content before, then maybe it is genuinely the sex that's bothering them. Maybe they think it's okay to have a little boy or little girl (who's actually a little adult -- we swear in court!) in a compromising position so long as big bad SEX doesn't take place on-screen.

But I still can't fault them for being afraid of showing a lolicon, or whatever the male equivalent is, in that kind of scenario. Even if I weren't about kink shaming, I'd be feeling like my neck was in a noose were that on a streaming service I provided.

Again, Tsugumomo and Excel Saga already did it, and they've been around for years. Some of the girls in Valkyrie Drive Mermaid are also underage. And if you want to step outside of Funi's stuff, Sentai has Prisma Illya and Made in Abyss.

Yeah, I haven't seen anyone address that this could be a legal issue for Funimation. I'm pretty sure that the sex scenes involving the angel would be considered CP in Canada (though I think FunimationNow still isn't available there).
