I haven't seen anyone address that this could be a legal issue for Funimation

It isn't. Stop ignoring the shows I've listed.

If it WAS a legal issue, Funi would have said so. They didn't. They said it was because it "falls outside of their standards".

How do you know that? Do any of those shows explicitly show sexual intercourse with an underage looking character? Not panty shots, but full on scenes of thrusting, moaning, and ejaculation?

The creepy loli stuff has always skirted a thin legal line. Even if the scenes in IR didn't cross that line, Funimation sure as hell wouldn't want to be made an example of in a court case that establishes that as going too far.

What does it show though? Do you see thrusting like you do in IR? If not, there's a layer of plausible deniability or ab argument that "it's for the narrative." With IR, the explicit nature of the scenes makes it clear that it's for the purpose of titillating the viewer.

That doesn't sound as explicit as actual penetration.

Look, I get your point that there are other shows with sexually explicit material, but IR is clearly on another level. Think of it like the other shows being right up on the line of acceptable and IR being just a centimeter over that line.

I went back and checked the scene. It was actually 5 girls, and after he came, they played rock paper scissors to see who would deflower him.

I'm not sure why penetration even matters here, though. All of these anime would be considered porn by the average person. Intercourse is not an inherent part of the most common definitions.

Again, Funi would have said if they were running into legal issues. They'd have no reason not to because that's a way better excuse than some arbitrary "standards" the company has.

Again, Funi would have said if they were running into legal issues. They'd have no reason not to because that's a way better excuse than some arbitrary "standards" the company has.

If they said, "Hey, this is a legal issue," that could be considered an admission of guilt. They hosted something, undoubtedly have some material on their servers, and paid money for this stuff that could potentially be considered CP.

Like I said, this feels like a situation where it's just over the line and they don't want to be embroiled in another legal debacle.

But it already happened. They had that episode on their site and were charging people to watch it. Taking it down doesn't change that. And again, all the other stuff I previously mentioned would be considered CP if held to the same standards as actual live CP (which it wouldn't because it's fictional and therefor protected by the First Amendment).

Okay, Funimation just intentionally wasted money licensing a show that the weren't going to sell for funsies. You got it. They did it to spite people, like me, who wanted to watch a show that had a sexy and funny premise.

You're ignoring the idea that this could easily be challenged as being CP. I'm sure someone in their legal department sounded the alarm when they got the materials for a later episode.

You're completely missing the point. If this show is CP, then they already broke the law. Deleting it doesn't undo that. They're already screwed. They wouldn't have put the episode up in the first place if this were a legal issue, so it can't possibly be one. Once again, they already gave a reason for taking the show down. You're going into conspiracy theory territory and ignoring facts.

No man, you got it, they did this for a giggle. No company has ever accidentally done something illegal and then had a panicked response (as indicated by seemingly everyone involved with the show being as shocked by its cancelation as we were).

Also, I'm pretty sure a lawyer would advise you to never talk about legal issues publicly unless absolutely necessary. That adds another level of drama and publicity to something Funimation may want to keep quiet.

It's likely just them wanting to avoid possible trouble.

This kind of content is very questionable and can get you into trouble, if not now then in the future. So to minimize potential drama, they got rid of it I guess.

And the loli angel Crim isn't even the worst it got, there is a scene with halflings (gnomes) doing it and they look really small. Visible mosaic'd penetration too, even if a dildo
What makes this show different is the other examples brought up are ecchi and they aren't actually very explicit. Reviewers was legit non-subtle sex.

You're probably watching an edited version. One fansubber took Funi's version (since it has the highest video quality) and replaced all the sexy stuff with the uncensored version for the frames that were censored.

No, I actually looked at the taiwan version. It had censorship fails in the first episode's op, no censorship in the second and was censored in the third and fourth.
