No. But listen to the soundtrack.

It's a unique and genuinely interesting game so sure.

My biggest issues is that it's extremely preachy and you have to ignore 1/3rd of the games mechanics to get the happy ending.

And yes the soundtrack is phenomenal.

No. It's way overrated for what it's worth. Some people act like it's a top 10 game of all time when it isn't. It is not a bad game but not THAT good

Depending on the choices made, yes, they may reference your previous playthrough.

No, because there's really only three endings (two of which you can get on a single playthrough, weird as that sounds). You can do things to mildly alter scenes in those endings, but you can see pretty much everything, aside from some extremely minor stuff, with two playthroughs total.

The opposite is sort of true. The game essentially punishes you if you do anything other than get the best ending first time, and then never play again.

It's an unusual and interesting game that spits in the face of conventional RPG standards. At under $10, it's worth the price and isnt particularly long.

How long does it take to finish?

It's a good game, but the fanbase is pretty annoying. Of course, the fans aren't half as annoying as the nitwits who hate it simply because it's popular.

Yes. It's one of my favorite indie games and I highly recommend it. Just avoid the Internet. The fanbase can be annoying.

How long does it take to finish?

When you are doing a pacifist playthrough while interacting with everything so you don't miss anything the game has, about 8-13 hours depending on how much you explore and interact.
When you are doing a neutral playthrough without everything (but some things) along the way, probably 6-8 hours.
When you are doing a genocidal playthrough after being experienced with a neutral/pacifist playthrough, about 3-4 hours (or maybe even more if you have trouble with certain bosses as the difficulty spikes for certain bosses)

I watched the first 2 hours of it. It came across as less of a video game and more of a, how should I say, statement from the devs forcing down somewhat disingenuous wholesomeness. During that test run I watched there was a good bit of comments crying how the dudes "weren't playing the game right" and said it's not one of those games that you can just stream while being all snarky. Overall, I wasn't convinced that it was the next best thing

Empathy also isn't the ability you're necessarily using most of the time when you experience fictional media anyway. Sympathy is, and that's a different thing.

That being said, you're both right in this case. It's up to the narrative in question to provide characters you feel inclined to engage with, sympathize with, and otherwise care about, but it's also up to the player (or viewer, or reader, etc) to be willing to engage with the narrative in the first place, and not just, say, skip through every cut-scene, skim every dialogue line, and generally not pay attention to the story or the characters to the point where it doesn't matter how well written they are.
