Thanks. This is the only thing I was originally asking to be acknowledged. I only started to get defensive after other users stated that being bitter about one of my own moderations was the motivation for this topic.

Would have been nice on one of the few moderations I got. I used a offensive term for a trans person that at the time i didnt realize they considered offensive to them. The rest of my post was positive about the person I called that word so I was confused until someone explained it to me.

That's just the way this site works. I'm not intending for this topic to become "guilt trip the mods for every decision they've made or for everything that didn't get handled correctly on this site."

While giving a good reason for why you are moderated is a thing good mods do, your example is a good example why your idea is a bad idea for how a messageboard should be run, becasue then a ton of rule breaking moderations would be overturned when a mod doesn't say things correctly.

This bs has been going on for over a year in how mods handle off topic posts on 261. Ive been modded for reporting on hate crimes against Sikhs and theyve all been deleted for off topic. I was told discussion of hate crimes isnt political. But the 2 500 topics about Jussie werent ever deleted

Ive never seen so much fucking inconsistency on how off topic is handled on that board. I made a topic about Anderson Cooper who is a political journalist hosting a New Years show and it got deleted for off topic. But topics I marked about final fantasy wrestling baby Yoda & the MCU werent

Changes that need to be there for moderation:

2. If it gets overturned, the moderation must immediately be removed from your history.
3. Moderator name should be displayed on who mods you and who responds in the dispute.

Gonna probably just stick to very matter-of-fact posting on a limited range of topics now. Probably won't make a difference, not like I contribute much to begin with :\

1) I'm pretty sure this used to be a thing, but it just meant that the queue went a lot slower because it adds up when you have to add notes for every moderation. I personally try to add notes for anything that might not be explicitly clear to the end user.

2) It staying on history is a benefit to you in the end. It's not held against you in any way.

3) Yeah, that would be a great way to set up volunteer mods for harassment. This idea sounds more and more ludicrous every time I see it proposed. A moderation could be blatantly fair but there are people who will take it out on the mod they see modded them.

I understand what TC is saying and it doesn't surprise me that a certain mod is acting incredulous at the idea that mods would have to be exact down to the word.....even when they expect that of other users at all times and mod them for it. You can rest assured that this very mod is scanning through this message for that word, or even a secret "you implied something I didn't like" message that I didn't post, but will act like it's there anyway if it means he gets to take it down.

Hellhole actually discussed the question recently and they have a convoluted reason why they have this split and treat religion/race/sex comments differently even though they could be the same comments swapped out with different groups.

You see, for anyone enforcing the rules normally, hateful comments against Islam would be acted on equally as other groups. But in the twisted world of ideological bias, action against anti-Muslim posts depends on unlisted internal factors not actually found in the terms such as "someone can choose to be like that or not" and people get protection whether they tick off the boxes in a mod's personal checklist.

This is why your religion vs race question is seen as a VERY important designation to them, even though the typical visitor would treat all groups equally and questions why the system does not.

This is another internal/personal decision that a mod makes on review. I have seen a mod in the past defend inaction for half a page because he thought the topic was entertaining, even if it was off-topic but he enjoyed it personally so the rules got bent a little. Also didn't hurt that another mod made the topic. I'm sure that has nothing to do with it.

Really? The only prolific mod across the site (Error) routinely gets blamed for every moderation ever. And that dude's all snark.
All that laughable system would accomplish is divert shitposters' hate to other mods. Hellhole will still be filled with whining about "unfair" moderations. The users that get modded on a routine basis will continue to do so alongside pestering the mods that mod them. There will still be an occasional honest mistake or petty revenge.
Things would be exactly the same for the userbase with the slight difference of being able to point to the bad person that silenced you.
