i got modded for saying conservatives were all for attacking children in the past in a topic about Greta and got modded for generalizing all conservatives as people who attacked children.

When I disputed explaining how using the term conservatives in no way means every single conservative I got notified the moderation was upheld with no rebuttal to what I said.

Sounds like a change to let mods be lazy tbh. Also funny cause almost every topic has someone say Conservatives this or Democrats that yet we dont see mass moderations for all that generalizing.

But I mean its just gamefaqs so its really not a big deal. Moderations mean nothing unless youre really fucking around with the TOS.

If you got modded for trolling in this topic for post one, you can dispute it but they could use post 3 as evidence you were trolling for example.

I mean I got modded for posting flat out facts. Like that in certain parts of a certain country they eat a certain animal (they said it was an offensive negative stereotype). And that AOC wanted to abolish ICE (they said she only wanted to temporarily defund it, but closed the dispute after I posted 10 links proving otherwise, all of which specifically used the word abolish).

She, and others in her camp, have said that exact thing many, many times. If you got modded for that, it's literally the mods inserting their political opinions into their moderation duties. They should just keep their hands off it.

I can't tell you how many times I've been modded for legitimate, reasonable political opinions because they're "Extremely offensive" and how I should "never say this again."

I once got moderated for the suggestion that anything can be funny with the right context.

"Some things are never funny, no matter what the context, and the suggestion that X, Y, and Z could ever be funny is extremely offensive."

It's like the mods have no sense of humor and no concept of satire or parody.

I got modded for calling someone an asshole and I was proud of it because he was. I'd do it again.

Yeah, disputes have been like that for a while. The only time you ever get a response in the dispute form now, is if you lose your dispute privileges through grievous abuse of the system. It even states when you go to dispute that you will not get a response for any reason, as well.

This should be fixed. Why is this okay? Mods are just people. They're not some kind of flawless overlords. They need actual oversight and they should be held personally responsible for their moderation decisions.

I actually got a mod note in my last deleted message and then got to appeal it and overturn it about 3 weeks ago though with a reply saying they thought I was talking about a real character and not a fictional version

How does the new system provide less oversight? More people see it and action it. I get what you're saying if it's upheld and a reason isn't provided... But in terms of oversight the new system is definitely better.

There is literally no opportunity to discuss or question the moderation. First word goes, and no matter what the appeal is, no matter how reasonable or specific the questions, it's a silent "Upheld"

There needs to be more discussion. Especially since people can be moderated for posting proof of their moderations.

Honestly, the system would be a lot less lazy and biased if they revealed who modded you.

Mods would actually have to respond in time, write proper reasonings instead of snarky one liners etc.

Mods look at your moderation history as well. If you have a habit in breaking the rules they becomes less lenient on you vs first offenses. I got my moderation disputed before because i rarely break the rules. Most people who complain tend to be people who like to tip toe over the waters to see how much they can get away with.

Poor excuse. "It's just a video game website" is not a justification for an aggressively horrid moderation system. It's like the most intentionally opaque mod system imaginable short of removing disputes altogether.

You never see who voted on the dispute, how many voted which way, or even who modded you in the first place. Personally, I believe I've been the victim of a moderator with a pet issue more than once in the past. I'd love to see names attached.

Mods should be held accountable for their censorship.

I think the no-response dispute system protects the mods, too. Usually they're incredibly stubborn and unwilling to admit when they're catastrophically incorrect, so they'd just double down three times in a row to the point of being comical.
