Current Events > Rewatching Burn Notice. Did any of you like it?

Up to episode 8. Haven't seen the show since 2015. It's bringing back a lot of memories, I miss those days hanging out then coming home and watching Burn Notice from 8-10pm on Channel 9, then White Collar and Leverage a few hours later on CBS. It also was right before my grandmother died.

Observations:

-Fiona has a strong Irish accent in the first episode but intentionally drops it in the beginning of the second episode to blend in more in Miami
-The first 2 episodes feature characters from Dexter
-Michael's brother was in 2 consecutive episodes

It's a fun show, but the plot kind of goes off the rails near the end.

I saw about ten minutes of an episode back when it was still airing and I thought it was boring and overly dramatic and dumb.

I hated it. The main guy was annoying and his constant voice overs explaining everything got old fast. My brother watched it obsessively, and I remarked to him that it felt like it was explaining everything to us like a child... He strongly disagreed. Then we saw the finale, and yeah.

There was a period of a couple years when my t.v. was always tuned on USA. It was either a law and order marathon or one of their excellent original shows. Underrated network in general, tbh.

It's not really about that. It's about how the show tends to treat the viewers as if they're too stupid to understand what's going on, and doing constantly. It's so heavy handed about having to explain every action he takes, but does so in such a boring and patronizing manner. It just irks me, and it turned out my complaints were accurate anyway.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm glad others can enjoy it. My brother loved it and always wanted me to watch with him, but I just couldn't get into it because of how it talked down and over explained to the viewers.

My girlfriend binged it s couple years ago. I watched some of it with her and enjoyed what I saw but I never really got into it enough to want to watch the whole thing myself. It was a cool concept but like others said the voice overs became kinda grating after awhile.

It taught me how to be a spy. Very informative.

I had no problem with it because it didn't slow down the pacing. He explained what was going on as it was happening and the explanations were down to Earth as well.

Now if they halted scenes to explain what was going on, a la Hunter x Hunter, then we'd have problems.

It's the most hilarious show in it's badness.

It's hilarious how Jeffrey Donovan goes through the entire series not knowing he's terrible at acting.

And his spy advice is brilliant.

"C4 can be tough to come by, so in a pinch, pop rocks and play-dough can do the trick"

I remember enjoying the first 2 seasons. Never watched past that.

I also remember that the one chick was anorexic as FUCK and the show portrayed her as smoking hot when in reality she was nasty >_> Only jarring thing I could remember

One of my favorite shows. Last season was weak but the show was great overall.

Honestly that is what I liked so mich about the show. It gave it a certain style. It was like Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide for adults.

The show felt like I was watching a spy training video with a plot. It was a fascinating niche but I can see how it isn't for some people. Another work of fiction I would compare its storytelling style to is World War Z (the book, not the movie).

Now I still love most of it, but the last season or two is a little bit off conspiracy wise. A bit crazy.

Can you believe that they still show Leverage in syndication? It will be coming on on CBS in a few hours at 2:05 am. They've been showing it around that timeslot for about 5 years now. They were also showing it on ION every weekday for about a year but recently stopped.

I'm 100% correct in saying without Bruce Campbell's Sam Axe, that show would've been cancelled after like a full season.

Burn Notice and White Collar are legitimately my favorite shows ever. I rewatch the entirety of both at least once a year.

Both are currently on Hulu.

I enjoyed the hell out of the show. I was anticipating it before its premier and I loved it start to finish. It's at its strongest right up until Jesse is introduced imo

It was enjoyable.

But the overarcing plot of who burned Micheal got old after a couple of seasons, especially when every season let up to the final boss fight only to discover it was someone else all along.
