It's like they're expecting to drop dead at any moment. Their first great-grandchild was born recently and we were asking them what the baby should call them and they both said "It doesn't matter because we'll probably be gone by the time the baby is talking"

So like what they just think they'll be dead in a year or two now?

My grandma is like 95 and just started losing her marbles in the last two years. shes still pretty good, just zero short term memory.

My grandmother decided she was old when she was 82. She then spent the rest of her life insisting she was useless and basically refusing to do anything to actually live a life of her own, including refusing any sort of treatment for the depression she very obviously had. She died this past January at 98, after spending 6-7 years lying in a nursing home bed doing nothing. I'm honestly kind of glad she's gone now, since that was just such a miserable existence.

It's not impossible so yeah. Sure you can die at anytime but it's more expected the older you get. If I ever reach that age I'll still choose to live my life and not think too much about death. With that said I think about it too much now.
