I think it "flew under the radar" because it doesn't have the characters of the first one (or specifically Max) and as I understand it doesnt use the time travel mechanic either.

For all intents and purposes it seems like a spiritual successor more so than a sequel. Again, haven't played it, though.

I think the big issue for Life is Strange 2 is it's too expensive and the episodic game trend is finished.

It's also taking a really long time to get it all out.

Probably why we're seeing everything come out at once for this game.

Gaming "journalists" have already starting writing their articles blaming gamers for being transphobic for when this eventually flops.

Off topic sorta but you mentioning eposidic reminded me that iirc wolfenstein and doom games where eposidic back in the day. People loved those but a lot of people whine about the practice today.

FtM character is actually a breath of fresh air. In almost a lot of shows I watch, it's always MtF anytime there's a trans character. Anyways I hope the writing and storytelling is good. I haven't played LiS2 yet, but I hope it has the same quality as the first game.

Well there is definitely far more open bi/lesbia girls in all areas ive lived than open gay/bi guys then. Then again ive always lived in rural areas where a gay guy is more prone to keeping it to himself.

Aiden Pearce was conceptially Asian and they had to change it to a white guy to be more marketable.

And Dontnods previous game Remember Me (an action game) had it's budget cut by 2/3rds when they insisted on making the main character a black woman and not changing it.

You can get around it with a create-a-character feature but developers have to sacrifice their ideas and art for marketability all the time

Like them or not Dontnod seem to actually have legit artistic integrity.

They as I said stuck by their guns with Remember Me and got their budget crippled instead of taking the money.

Then Life Is Strange got rejected so many times they could only fund it as an episodic game, which none of them wanted to do in its inception. But they stuck by it rather than making a different game.

Then they made a game about fucking English Vampires for some reason.

Life Is Strange 2 wasn't about Max and they didn't make the prequel cash in.

And now they're doing this.

They seem to legitimately try to make games that they want to make and let their artists and writers express their vision.

Life is Strange actually had pretty well-written characters.

A little too well written.

Max Caufield made me cringe almost every time she opened her mouth. And Chloe was hella unlikable most of the time. (Though that was the point of her development >_>)

Anyways, I trust the devs that the writing for the characters will be believable. But Ill wait for a sale to pick it up like I did with LiS.

I'm not a fan of DONTNOD games as games, but from what I could tell, they did alright with Life is Strange as a storytelling experience, so I wish them well on this one.

There's a big disconnect here for Gamers (rise up). There's a pervasive idea that game publishers are always forcing devs to dumb down their games in order to appeal to the widest audience possible. But Gamers (rise up) also think that publishers are simultaneously forcing devs to include characters and themes that the majority of the audience doesn't want.

The same people claiming that they're making sure trans main character for "woke points" are the same people who would declare it "pandering" if a character was secretly trans.

You're not fooling anyone, the act is a waste of time.

(Which isn't to say you're not allowed to be uninterested or dislike the game, but a trans character being in the game should have nothing to do with it.)

The first two episodes of Life is Strange are the best of that little telltale making choices style of game. I grabbed it because the cover art was cool and was surprised at how much it pulled me in

past the second episode I really started to get put off with how the story was going. By the time it was over I was pretty sad even if I liked the ending
