I don't care that RM lost, I care that he lost after offering FOUR NRs for it.

In other words, everyone decided it was better to fuck over Chris than to increase their odds of winning for their character.

Any person that took all 4 of those would be GUARANTEED to make top 3 at least, and the way he was doing it probably top 2. You all would rather screw Chris than take your character to the Finals....

In fairness people so rarely get to fuck me over who can blame them for striking?

In fairness, if anyone in the modern history of SMFF deserves a bit of backlash it is me. I have often times been brash, brutal to those who opposed my wishes, and I have enforced strategies in multiple years that have annoyed people. In general, with few exceptions, people are fair to me even if we've had a rough history and if someone wants to spite me in small ways, I've won in enough big ways that it seems petty to be keeping score at this point. When you are as successful as me, you will always have enemies, and they were well earned.

It's actually moreso me and swordz had a deadly alliance the entire year and whoever won, well, would win the other's support. Blood pact if you will.

One thing that kinda annoys me is that a lot of people don't seem to understand the definition of the word "underdog" very well. A character's prior performances have absolutely nothing to do with an "underdog" status. It would be like calling the Ravens the underdogs when they played the Browns because the Browns have more championships from 900 years ago. People seem to forget Auron has been pretty mediocre to just downright forgettable for years now. Just because he once upon a time was a contender each year and has won doesn't make him this odds on favorite or not the underdog to characters who have all contest appeared to have more support.

I think for me if you are top 20 all time in stats or have won a 'chip you can't be an underdog at this stage. Like yeah if someone has been down a long time reaching top ten is great but when you are threatening to return to the finals as a former champion the broader context matters more.

The contest never works that way.

Support and strength is dynamic to the point in the contest we are at. That would be like thinking Layle is some sort of unstoppable powerhouse every year only to be surprised when the support ultimately dries up where it always does.

Auron is a very strong character naturally with the thing turning him mediocre is the people who support X most shifting from backing him to backing Tidus over the years but if he ever got deep like this he was always going to rack up effortless support much like Kefka or Locke does every year.

Yeah I was gonna mention characters have different strengths at different times in the contest.

Not having much support in the early stages doesn't mean they wouldn't be a powerhouse later.

I am curious what you think you get from picking fights like this randomly. My main gets eliminated, I say how great of a run it has been and am happy with his placement, and you mention Bossman Coolguy for some reason? I suppose I could stop to give Bossman Coolguy credit for being the other Red Mage main supporter. VI was a quality blood pact bud as well. Koala hopping on near the end and being a reliable trade partner was super helpful as well.

As for MWC, to me he is mostly just dorky compared to how he used to be. He hasn't threatened murder in awhile so maybe I am just relieved he has resorted to flaming. Maybe it is just because I've known him too long though.

Sure. Let's break it down by the numbers though, just because I like math.

Red Mage got a total of 20 saves this round.

2 Directly from me (Trade + vote)
2 from VI (two trades iirc) that came directly from a blood pact deal I made (sorry for lack of fanfics VI honestly it feels like I have been sick forever, but my plans for next year may excite you if you like villainy)
1 from Swordz, my other blood pact bud.

As for my bag girl Light, I saved her once as part of a trade. In fact, I believe I haven't free saved Light in several rounds, maybe the top ten because Red Mage needed the support more and swordz gave his blessing. So swordz has just been getting Red Mage for free in his most critical of time because I helped Light when RM was strong and she in turn was having trouble.

I mean I get it I am the worst, so you can be annoyed, but the numbers back up that I did a lot for RM.

It might be true that Auron can be seen as an easy magnet for strength in late game situations, but I think that's true for a lot of characters honestly. Generally if you make it to the top 5 you are a magnet of some sort or else you wouldn't have made it that far. But if you look at the earlier contests Auron versus new era Auron you see a drastically different character strength wise. It's also important to remember that as SMFFFC has gone on, various characters have fluctuated in strength based on the absence of people no longer here. I can't go out and prove it or anything, but in the pre-Marche contests there were clearly more people who were Auron fans than there were after.

Sure but if you were to ask me who was most likely to win the contest right now Id say Auron is #1 or #2 and in a real way kinda has been since the top 15 was set - which makes an underdog claim kinda laughable.

It would honestly surprise me if Auron won. I feel like no repeatz for sure doesn't overcome Kefka, Edward is on a super roll of doom but maybe that ends in the final, and Lightning would be interesting.

yea I think if it's Auron vs Kefka, Kefka takes that fairly easily. Auron vs Lightning, that would be kind of interesting and I'm not 100% how it would go. Auron vs Edward I feel like Auron probably has.

I think the Lightning Anti-votes cancel out repeat winner bias deliver it for Auron over Lightning.

I think he rolls Edward much the same way Fang rolled Cid P.

I think Kefka/Auron is a toss up.
