But was it intentional though? That's where I'm torn. He hasn't given any kind of defense that I can see for why he would post "my internet went down" rather than "Red XII". If he even attempted to give some kind of honest explanation for his behavior, maybe he'd have a few more sympathizers. But by not speaking, one can only assume it was intentional and there's no place for that frankly.

He probably tried to make his save, failed, and thought the round was over. While I think it was lame, he also apologized. Short of him intentionally saving another character, it's difficult to determine intent. Plus, that not even really the issue. He's being banned for being FBike under some nebulous community rule, and I don't think that is okay.

Yeah I wasn't going to do any updates before the end but sure...

Barret, Squall and Red XIII had been in the "never iron man" group when they were eliminated so the snipe eliminations were Aerith and Rydia, bolded for reference. Just Lightning and Auron left in the "never" group now, and Kefka indeed moving up the charts. Rydia also set the longest snipe survival record at 74 rounds. Cutting off the bottom of the 1s to fit under the character limit.

I find it amazing that Vivi rolled right over this repeat winner bias, frankly. It's quite annoying that, only now, that seems to matter when it's affecting my sixth favorite character and the only high favorite I've had left since *Vincent went out in 27th. Vivi is cool, but Auron is just as good a character and this is getting ridiculous. Where were all these anti-repeat folks two contests agowhen Vivi was dominating and no one seemed to be blockading trades for him, I wonder?

*Before anyone brings them up, Braska and Jecht were part of the X-0 project, Jecht might just barely scratch top 15 for me. (And while Rikku is likely top 10 some of her fan base... dissuades me from ever really supporting her and calling her a high favorite.)

So basically it took from 4 to 18 for Vivi to have become a repeat winner, and if Auron somehow managed it here it would have been from 9 to 21

I really don't get why that's such a bad thing, a literal decade has passed since Auron last won for example right? SMFFFC IX would have been roughly 2009-2010? I honestly don't know since I wasn't around, hence why I'm rooting for him here. Just like when Vivi won in 18, that was my first time seeing him win. This board is old enough now that we've had numerous shifts come and go, the idea of a repeat winner from the early days loses more and more meaning as we go on imo

I joined Board 8 during Game of the Decade 2010 so Auron would've won well before that. I can't sympathize with the anti-repeat when I've never seen it firsthand, and it truly blows that I'll never get to see Auron or Balthier (my second favorite FF character) even get a CHANCE at making it to the finals because longer-standing players have FFD's big stick up their arses.

Did you somehow miss that he's been the next to last character safe in the last two rounds consistently? Come now, I know you're not this dense. Also the only possible support Auron has picked up from the elimination of Aerith and Red XIII is KBM. I again don't want to scan through 6 or 7 pages, but she's the only one I could find that implied Auron would be her next move.

Anyone else that falls from here on out? Their supporters are just as likely if not moreso to ragequit or "watch the contest burn" than move to Auron aside from maybe Kefka's, in which case Auron might gain Xuxon and Ark? Or they could just call this one a wash and bounce. If this trend continues Auron is out 5th or 4th, point-blank. He IS an underdog barring very specific circumstances.

And those rankings mean next to nothing when people don't put their money where their saves are. Look I'd love to be proven wrong on this, like, I'll absolutely be thrilled if Auron not only survives next round but picks up the support those character rankings would indicate he should. However you can bet your sweet ass I'll be waiting at the end with a big ol' "I FUCKING TOLD YOU SO" banner if he goes out in 5th or 4th. Chris is not going to stop fighting for Red Mage- it's beyond obvious at this point, and in my entire smiffic career I've only bested him once (and even then this was when his [second?] favorite character got the belt, and he got hella support for his pet project the very next contest, so in a way he still won).

i don't have a problem with repeat winners on principle. i'd love to see Tidus or Celes win again, and would vote for Auron if somehow both Kefka and Lightning get eliminated before the finals. don't really see that happening, though.
