Honestly, I agree. He may have been better equipped to handle the situation than most people but he should've mentioned that in the interview and not promote this kind of behavior.

I'm happy it worked out in this scenario but I'd say it's too risky and somewhat selfish to risk the lives of others when the lives of bystanders aren't already directly at risk.

gunman on public train
old guy sees people fleeing & goes right back in the train after finding out an armed train robbery is in progress

robbers have no problem taking things but taking life... nah. probably robbed others before without incident.

someone finally stood up to the robbers and i think the gunman didnt know what to do. maybe never even fire a gun in his life. simply the gunman wasnt ready to take a life.

Im sorry but this is a bullshit opinion. The train patrons were already at risk because they were being robbed. At any point the gunman could want to shot them instead of rob. Threat established.

Then to say as the final statement this was selfish makes no sense as since everyone was already at risk, this BAMF steps up, like no one else would, and handles the situation.

This post REEKS of cowardice. Is that what were promoting now? Cowardice over bravery in the face of adversity? TRUE adversity?

I applaud this old man. More like actual citizen doing their job to Jeep the peace in their community, because the police cant always handle things for you, and frankly the police shouldnt have to always handle things for you. Some folks need to grow a spine. Because saying this man standing up to the robbers is selfish, should have just let them take the goods and money as then no one would have been hurt. Yall dont know that. No one knows what these guys COULD have done. But yknow what did happen? A Badass mother fucker taking a bunch of pussies down.

Still the way he's handling that gun is scary.

Finger near the trigger and don't know how to work the safety.

His finger wasn't on the trigger, the way he was holding it was actually normal trigger disipline

It's a tough situation. People were going to keep getting robbed if he didn't do anything.

See I don't really think that its an ordinary citizens place to be desculating situations like this. It could have easily turned in a murder or hostage situation.

I still say behavior like this shouldn't be promoted. There's just too many dumb motherfuckers out there that don't know how to handle their shit.

Of course it is situational and not a golden rule. I'm just not sure I'd wanna rest my life in some random brave old man's hands.

The potential risk that he added to the situation was maybe not completely selfish but it was inconsiderate.

Old man did the right thing in the end, even if it was risky.

I don't blame untrained civilians who probably never been in a life or death situation before to be scared. It's a natural reaction. Not everyone is going to choose 'Fight' in 'Fight or Flight'. Doesn't mean you're a coward.

There are times where playing Hero gets people killed, and there are times a Hero needs to stand up and save the day. It's not easy to tell which situation is which in the heat of the moment. This dude was a boxer, so he at least knew how to knock a guy out, but you can't expect someone who spent most of their adult life baking bread to do the same.

The only coward was the man with the gun ribbing people. Everyone else just wanted to survive.
