^^Peers/friends your age you grew up with/etc is bad enough, but it really killed my wife when her nieces in high school got knocked up and we still hadn't had our child. >_>

Is it your wife or you that's, um, "complicating the process"?

My vein in my pee pee is super big and powerful and the extra blood was heating up the spermies and making most of them useless. :( We were very fortunate in that while only two viable embryos were left after all the retrieval process, one of them took (they inserted both at once, which they apparently stopped doing two at a time soon after, but it was standard when we did it) on the first try. So while it would kinda be nice to have some frozen ones so we could possibly have another child I'm kinda glad we don't have to worry about what to do with them if we had way more than we could use or whatever. >_>

So like the opposite of Hank Hill? Instead of a tiny urethra, you have a big one and that's actually a bad thing? I did not know that was possible. I hope everything works out for you.

I am the anti-Hank. >:)

Thanks, we got a healthy clone of myself out of it, so I consider that "working out" even if we probably won't be able to have another.

"I want my own"

This is it, the selfishness and the natural urge to reproduce. If I had money and an inability to get pregnant or carry to term, I'd adopt. If I had money I'd adopt, I love being a mom

The adoption process is a pain in the ass and they make it absurdly difficult for a lot of people.
Which boggles the mind since they will get the lowest pieces of shit to be foster parents (I swear they have the minimal shittiest standards for foster parents), but will give an intensely difficult time to anyone who wants to adopt.
Figure that one out.

People are so uneducated about the cost, absurd waitlists and possible legal complications of adoption.

^THIS... sadly. Lots of people who want to adopt can't because of stupid obstacles. But a bunch of crackheads who want to be foster parents? Sadly, 100 times easier.

This might be part of why I don't understand. I am a person with flawed DNA and i could never responsibly pass it on. So I don't feel that same drive. I'm also not mature enough to care for another human. But if I was I would adopt someone needy

With foster care, the kids are typically bouncing from foster home to foster home. Some children live with foster families for a few days, others a few years. The AVERAGE length has been approximately two years (some have lasted far, FAR more, but those are super rare cases as the average length is typically two years for most foster kids at a foster placement).

Its also in the level of responsibility. The state still has legal custody and guardianship of the kids, they make all decisions, and they can take them at any time for any reason.

Who's to say what is or isn't "flawed DNA"?

It's more just.. it's nice to know you've passed on your genes to live through another generation.

To those trying to make sense of it all and don't have kids themselves, just keep in mind a lot of these things are not rational.

Because it's a natural instinct. Yes, there are a lot of children who need good homes, but that fact does not erase primal urges resulting from millions of years of evolution.

Your own child is fascinating. He looks exactly like his mother, yet in some pictures, you match him with your own, people cant tell the difference. He also looks exactly like his brother.

Its like those magic spells where a trick of the light causes you to see a person as someone completely different.

I've redd a story of some guy who was treated like family until they had to go to something involving a funeral or maybe something about heritage, and they told him "blood family only."

Indeed. No family should treat an adopted person any different than non adopted

Sorry Cleo. I guess I didn't know all the points of view. I still think adoption should be more popular. But I will think about what you said.
Well Im glad I was able to give you some more insight on what an infertile woman is going through.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

They discovered I had PCOS about 1.5 years ago, after we tried conceiving on our own for nearly two years. I have no symptoms of typical PCOS. My cycles are normal, I dont have weight issues or excessive body hair. My gyno kept refusing to run tests on me and kept telling me to try harder when I told her I was worried we werent conceiving. So we ended up seeing a fertility specialist who did the tests and discovered it.

Because of my PCOS, I basically release immature eggs most cycles. Even when we did IVF and they retrieved my eggs, only about 40% of them were mature enough to use and thats with a bunch of hormones they pumped into me. Typically they get about 80-90% mature eggs from women.
